Alright, friends. Let’s talk about a dangerously addictive little snack I call almond bark Puffcorn — or, if you’re feelin’ fancy, almond bark popcorn. Some call it white chocolate popcorn – even though it is actually made with almond bark. It’s sweet. It’s salty. It’s puffed to perfection. And your hips might not thank me, but your tastebuds (and everyone you share it with) definitely will.
Now technically, white chocolate popcorn is often made with regular ole’ popcorn and melted white chocolate chips. That’s cute and all, but have you ever tried digging out rogue kernels with a spoon? Hard pass. Around here, we skip the hassle and go straight for the good stuff: Chester’s Butter Puffcorn. No kernels. No drama. Just buttery, melt-in-your-mouth puff magic.

This post was updated in June, 2025. It seems since I originally posted this recipe in 2016, the size of the Chester’s Butter Puffcorn has shrunk down from 3.5 ounces to 3 1/4 ounce. I now recommend using three bags of Puffcorn rather than two as I directed in my original recipe.
Tips for Making Perfect Almond Bark Puffcorn
Important PSA: Do not — I repeat, do not — grab the Chester’s Cheese Puffcorn by mistake unless you want to cry into a bowl of neon orange sadness. You’ve been warned. The Chester’s Butter Puffcorn is what you want. They are often right next to each other at my area grocery stores!
The secret to smooth, evenly coated almond bark popcorn is simple: batch it, baby.
You’ll need three bags of Chester’s Butter Puffcorn and one block of almond bark. But don’t go melting the whole block at once and dumping it in like a popcorn rookie. That leads to clumps, uneven coverage, and heartbreak. Instead, divide and conquer:
Split both your Puffcorn and almond bark into quarters.
Melt 1/4 of the bark in the microwave in short bursts (about 30 seconds at a time), stirring between each round until silky smooth.
Pour over 1/4 of your puffcorn and stir like your snack-loving life depends on
it – fast, fast, fast before the almond bark clumps up.Spread it out on wax paper and then move on to the next batch.
(If you are adding sprinkles, add them over the puffcorn as soon as you spread it onto the wax paper or foil.- Allow all batches to cool at least 15-20 minutes before touching.
Yes, it does take a bit longer to work in batches, but you will be pleased with the results. I can always tells when I rush the process because my almond bark puffcorn looks more clumpy than it should.

Different Ways to Dress Up Almond Bark Popcorn
Plain almond bark Puffcorn? Delightful.
Almond bark Puffcorn with rainbow sprinkles or sprinkles for a party theme? Party perfection.

You can even level up your white chocolate popcorn game with a drizzle of melted dark or milk chocolate. Think Ghirardelli glam. I’ve done it for wine nights, showers, even teacher gifts — and let me tell you, this stuff vanishes from the snack table.

Perfect Party Snack
Need a theme-y touch? Add a little tag that says “She’s about to pop!” for a baby shower or “Thanks for popping in!” for a party favor. It’s kitschy, it’s cute, and it never fails to get a smile.
A sweet friend introduced me to this almond bark popcorn at a baby shower we co-hosted years ago, and it instantly became my go-to snack for all things festive. Whether you call it puffcorn, white chocolate popcorn, or something else entirely — it’s sweet, salty, and totally irresistible.
I hope you and your people love this recipe as much as we do! Let me know if you come up with any fun variations — I’m always looking for an excuse to “test” another batch.

White Chocolate Popcorn | Almond Bark Puffcorn – 2 Ingredients
Ingredients
- 9.75 oz Chester's Puffs – Butter Flavor 3 bags
- 24 oz Almond bark 1 brick
- Sprinkles or chocolate drizzles optional
Instructions
- Pour about 1/4 of the Puffs into a large bowl.
- Place 1/4 brick of almond bark into a second microwaveable-safe bowl.
- Microwave almond bark at 30 second intervals 2 separate times, stirring afterward each time.
- At the 60-second mark, evaluate to see if you need to heat again. If so, try 15-20 seconds so as not to burn the melted candy.
- Quickly, pour the almond bark over the bowl of 1/4 puffs. Stir with a wooden spoon as you do, moving evenly and quickly.
- Spread the puffs on wax paper. (If using sprinkles, shake them over the puffs now before they set.) Allow to dry 15 minutes or so.
- Repeat all the steps with the remaining three batches of puffs/bark.
- Serve or store in an air-tight container.

Oh, my. I have no idea why I only just now saw this comment, Anndrea! I’m so glad you have enjoyed sharing it at school. That is what I do too! Teacher parties and potlucks are perfect events for sharing this treat.

So I made this but my puffcorn got soggy and didn’t stay crunchy. What’s the trick to keep it crunchy?
The Gifted Gabber
Ashley, these puffs will always have a slight softness to them – but it is a good melt-in-your-mouth kind of softness. They shouldn’t turn out super soggy. I’m thinking if the mixture turned out too thick and the coating was too heavy, it could have led to an overly-soggy texture. I sure hope you will give them another try! 🙂

White chocolate is my FAVORITE! I love how this uses pre popped corn!
The Gifted Gabber
Yes…no kernels! Even my one-year-old can safely eat this – although I give to her sparingly since it does have a lot of sugar in the chocolate.
