These gifts do not need to be large or ornate. Just a cute holiday mug is all that is needed! And once the mug is all dressed up, it likely doesn’t even need to be wrapped!
I do like to buy mugs that are slightly larger than others to hold more goodies. But if I see a super cute smaller one that I like best, I just make it work! You can always buy a small plastic basket at Dollar Tree and set the mug inside along with some larger items if everything won’t fit in the mug.
What to Put In a Christmas Mug Gift Game for Families with Kids
If you are gifting this Christmas mug gift to a kid or a family with children, you will want to include some kid-friendly items. Add some kid-friendly snacks: small mittens or Christmas socks, Christmas-themed candy, popcorn and movie-style boxes of candy for Christmas movie nights, etc. If you are in a baking mood, you can also add some homemade Christmas treats! Again, remember the mug will be small – so keep things simple!

What to Put in a You’ve Been Mugged Gift for Adults
I love to play with the You’ve Been Mugged game with my adult coworkers at the school where I teach. After all, you know the relationship of teachers and coffee mugs! Haha! And I really do love a good school staff game! See more work and student gift game ideas at the end of this post!
For grown ups, you can focus on toiletries such as holiday-flavored Chapsticks (lots of fun flavors are out seasonally), hot cocoa bombs, holiday coffee pods (just 1-2), etc. You can also add holiday candy canes and small ornaments.
We like to put in anything red and green! And when I find some of those twisty style peppermint sticks or candy canes, I love to pair those with the “Sweet But Twisted” gift tag you see above in the image!

Don’t forget to print your free You’ve Been Mugged printables for the holidays below. I’m attaching them in color or in a low-scale gray and white which can be printed in grayscale or in black-and-white (for those without the option to print in color). Our color printer is ALWAYS running out of color ink – despite us refilling the cartridges. Therefore, I just print my PDFs in grayscale.
