In medium bowl, stir together the cream cheese, 1/2 cup sour cream, and the taco seasoning until smooth and combined.
Spread the cream cheese mixture over a large rectangular rimmed serving platter.
Top the cream cheese layer with a layer of salsa and chopped green onion.
Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top.
Make a smaller rectangle of shredded lettuce on top - leaving two inches of cheese exposed on both ends for the "end zones."
Transfer the remaining sour cream to a piping bag (or to a Ziploc with a small corner snipped off) and pipe out six "yard lines" of sour cream on top of the lettuce.
Add 7 small squares of red peppers to one "side" of the field, as pictures in the images. Add 7 small squares of the other color pepper or the slightly different colored red tomatoes to the other "side" of the field. (If you are planning for two specific themes, you may can choose colors accordingly.)
Keep chilled until ready to serve, mindful the lettuce may brown the longer it sets out.
Serve with tortilla chips or crackers.
