What is Fireball?
I figure this explanation is a moot point for most of us who grew up with Fireball in college. But for those unfamiliar…Fireball is a cinnamon whisky. In fact, the tagline on the Fireball website is “Burns like Hell, Tastes like Heaven.”
This stuff can hit you fast so take it easy when using!
What Do I Need to Make Boozy Fireball Bombs?
While you don’t need much to make this recipe, you will find that one necessity is a cocoa bomb mold. These silicon molds will help you form a circular shape to your bombs. No mold? No problem. You can use paper cupcake liners instead. However, you will definitely lose the perfect circular shape. I recommend just buying the silicon molds anyway – especially if you are one who makes things like Oreo balls, cake balls, etc. The trays will come in handy!
While some molds come in different sizes, I prefer to buy the ones with the 2 inch diameter size. There are some larger sizes, but I have found you can only use those size bombs with those really big coffee mugs. Most of us have standard size coffee mugs at home.
As you can see, our 2 inch Fireball bombs fit perfectly in a standard size coffee mug!
Gifting Boozy Fireball Bombs
These boozy Fireball bombs with white chocolate make the perfect gifts. Simply drop one bomb into a seasonal or metallic paper cupcake liner, drop that into a small treat bag, tie with a pretty ribbon, and you are all ready! Also, on my other cocoa bomb round up post, I have a free printable gift tag for cocoa bombs! Swing by and grab it!
Our white chocolate Fireball bombs can be stored at room temperature (in an air-tight container) for up to six months. This means you can make them ahead and gift when ready!
Preparing White Chocolate Fireball Bombs
First, you have to make the white chocolate shells using your silicon mold. Basically, you will melt white chocolate chips in a microwave – careful not to burn as they burn easily – and then coat the silicon molds up and down the sides.
You will want to add a second layer of white chocolate around each edge to help form a seal with the other half of the white chocolate sphere. Your white chocolate shells will need to set for a few minutes to harden.
Next, you will prepare the white chocolate and Fireball ganache that is blended with heavy cream.
Remove the sphere shells from the molds very gently.
Now, you will heat a frying pan just until warm. Gently sear the edge of one shell before filling the shell with two tablespoons of ganache. Then, take a second (empty) shell and sear it also. Quickly, join the two sphere halves together to form a whole sphere – gently pressing the two pieces firmly together. Set aside and continue with the rest.
Once all the white chocolate Fireball bombs have been filled and sealed, it is time to decorate them!
I like to simply drizzle a tiny amount of white chocolate over the tops in a pattern – using either a piping bag or a Ziploc bag with a tiny snip at the corner.
Then, I follow up with some colorful sprinkles.
Adding Sprinkles to White Chocolate Fireball Bombs
Since I am often making my boozy Fireball bombs during the fall or winter months – Thanksgiving/autumn through at least Valentine’s Day – I often use red sprinkles. I figure red sprinkles work for fall, Christmas, and Valentine’s Day. Obviously, you can use any sprinkles you want. A pretty blue would be nice for general winter Fireball bombs.
Personally, I think the pink drink with the red sprinkles makes this a perfect Valentine’s Day drink!
More specific instructions are below in the recipe card!
How to Serve Boozy Fireball Bombs
These boozy Fireball bombs work like most other cocoa bombs. You will heat up milk or water and add to a coffee or cocoa mug. Next, drop in the bomb and watch it explode into a beautiful pink boozy drink that will warm you up! Keep in mind, the milk or water should be hot – not just warm. The higher the heat, the more elaborate the cocoa bomb explosion you will have!
White Chocolate Fireball Bombs
Equipment
- Silicone mold Round for cocoa bombs or cake balls
Ingredients
- 4 cups White chocolate chips Or candy melts
- ½ cup Heavy cream
- ½ cup Fireball Whisky
- ¼ cup Sanding sugar Or sprinkles of your choice; color of choice
- Milk or water Only needed when consuming/serving the bombs. NOT needed for preparation of bombs.
Instructions
To Make the White Chocolate Shells
- Melt 2 cup’s worth of the white chocolate chips in the microwave in 30 second increments until smooth.
- Fill each cavity of the silicone mold until covered. We like to use the back of a spoon to draw the chocolate up the sides. Allow to set.
- Follow up with another layer of melted white chocolate around the top edge of each cavity where the two spheres are going to join. A thicker edge is better! Keep in mind that you don’t want to fill the cavity too full of chocolate (it will try to rest in the bottom) as that means less fireball ganache. Allow to set.
To Make the Ganache
- In a microwave safe bowl, combine 2 c white chocolate chips, the heavy cream and the fireball. Heat for one minute and stir well.
- If needed, heat again for an additional 30 seconds. Mixture should be smooth. Allow to cool until assembly. Do not use right away as it will melt through the shell if the ganache is still too hot.
To Assemble Fireball Bombs
- Remove the sphere halves from the molds very gently.
- Using a WARM frying pan, gently melt the ridge of one sphere. Fill the one half full of the fireball ganache – about 2 tablespoons worth.
- Then take another (empty) shell half and place in the frying pan to melt down the edges. Immediately place this shell on top of the filled half in order to create the seal and join the two halves to make the complete sphere.
- Gently press along the sides to clean up the seal and remove any excess melted white chocolate. Set to the side as you finish the remaining bombs.
To Decorate
- You may drizzle the remaining melted white chocolate over the bombs in a pretty pattern and dust with sprinkles.
To Serve
- When ready to consume, place the bomb in a mug. Heat up 8-12 oz of milk or water – the hotter the better explosion. Slowly pour over the bomb and stir thoroughly. Allow to cool before consuming, if needed. Optional: for an extra boozy kick, insert a pipette filled with additional Fireball Whiskey.
