Although I received the memo that many people dress casually for the Grand Ole Opry, I sure chose to ignore it! Shine bright, baby! If there was ever a fun time for rhinestones, fringe, and metallics, it’s gotta be the place where the country’s biggest music stars shine bright, right? If you are trying to figure out what to wear to the Grand Ole Opry, check out the Grand Ole Opry outfits we put together.
No regrets.
What to Wear to the Grand Ole Opry? Go Bold!
I wore my shiny western dress that I wore for a NYE country music concert earlier this year. I was so excited to get a second use of this dress! I got multiple compliments during the night on my bold Grand Ole Opry outfit with my metallic cowboy boots! Normally, I don’t do metallics on metallics. But for my NYE disco cowgirl look and the Grand Ole Opry, the shinier the better!
Harper went with her blue romper and my red suede boots while Norah wore a sparkly skirt with her new pink suede boots. We brought our cowboy hats although I kind of regretted taking them. Hats drive me crazy, and I find myself dragging them around more than wearing them.
The Hubs wore a new Stetson pearl snap shirt he bought at the Country Music Hall of Fame Museum the day before. He had brought a similar one with him from home, but chose to wear the new one instead. His casual outfit was perfect for the Grand Ole Opry.
I felt we did pretty well pulling together our Grand Ole Opry outfit ideas, considering I only booked our trip five days ahead of the show and we used what we already had – except for the pink boots Norah wore and the red ones Harper wore. Those boots were purchased in Nashville which was part of the planned fun of our Nashville trip – picking out new cowboy boots!
Once inside the gift shop, I was further convinced we had stayed on the right track with our loud “look at me” Grand Ole Opry outfits. Inside the gift shop, the outfit pieces and boots on sale screamed “look at me!” Sequins, rhinestones, gold, silver. It was all there. Clearly, someone behind that gift shop thinks bold, shiny, and sparkly is in line with what to wear to the Grand Ole Opry!
And can I just say that I love that this metallic fringe dress has fringe on the front and the back! So fun!
Or Go Casual With Your Grand Ole Opry Outfit
In all seriousness, it was all over the place as far as Grand Ole Opry outfits. There is no Grand Ole Opry dress code! In total, I would estimate that about 75% of the people were dressed in casual clothes while the other 25% made some sort of effort – small or big – to dress up in western or glam outfits. Boots, cowboy hats, sequin blazers and dresses, rhinestone pants, etc. The other 75% were comfortable and happy in jeans, t-shirts, and tennis shoes. Everyone looked to be having a grand time no matter what Grand Ole Opry outfit they had worn.
Whatever you want to wear to the Grand Ole Opry is just fine! No matter what, you should have a grand time!
