Luckily, Sunkist Watermelon Lemonade comes to the rescue for a quick throw-together cocktail or punch! I think it is a relatively new product in the Sunkist soda line so I hope it sticks around!
Ingredients

- Vodka of your choice
- Fresh watermelon and/or slices of lemon – for garnish
Making Watermelon Lemonade with Vodka
Are you ready for just how stinking simple this recipe is?
Pull out a glass. A frosty glass is best. Pour in half a chilled can of Sunkist Watermelon Lemonade. Allow the fizz to settle and pour in one jig of vodka. Stir. Taste. Add more lemonade from the can or more vodka as desired. Obviously, the more vodka you add, the more the taste of the lemonade is going to be altered. If you are hoping to keep the taste of the lemonade, you need to go light with the vodka!
You can add ice if you prefer. If so, add the ice first. Personally, I like my lemonade cocktails just chilled with no ice since the ice melts and dilutes drinks so fast on hot summer evenings.
Add a bit of fresh watermelon or lemon slices to dress up the drink.
Tip: Buy the little watermelon chunks already chunked into little squares at the produce section at the grocery store! It makes garnishing these drinks a breeze!
So what do you think? Can you handle the simplicity of this recipe?
Mixing Alcohol and Carbonation
There are some concerns over drinking alcohol with carbonated drinks. Apparently, the carbonation can cause a person to become affected by the alcohol faster because pressure placed on the stomach and the small intestine causes the alcohol to enter the bloodstream at a faster rate.
I will say I have to take it slow when drinking carbonated mixed drinks like this type – not necessarily because of the rate of alcohol absorption but more so because of the pressure in my stomach from the carbonation. I start to feel really full really fast.
However, this drink is still perfect for a little party drink or for someone who will drink them slowly throughout the night!
