One of my favorite things to do in life is indoor plant styling. I enjoy decorating plants around my home – with the most common house plants down to the more rare ones. You might take it with a grain of salt because everyone’s style is different, but I am bringing you some of my best indoor house plant styling tips to help inspire your plant journey.
This particular post is nothing more than indoor plant names with pictures of the indoor house plant styling as seen in our home – for inspiration as you try to add more house plants to your home!
Incorporate LOTS of Color into Indoor Plant Styling
Plants and color are a match made in Heaven! Be sure to use your favorite colors that also blend with the rest of your home for a cohesive yet statement look. Decorating plants should naturally be worked into the scheme you already have and love.
Check out how I have gone about indoor house plant styling our home – erm…at least how I had them styled the day I took the pictures! I tend to change things up a lot around here! My husband jokes that one day he will come home and the bed will be in the living room! So my plant babies are used to finding themselves in new pots, new groupings, new spaces. That being said, there are some plants that I have learned to leave alone! Like people, there are some plants that just do not like change.
Indoor Plant Styling with Many Textures
I love the look of this plant vignette. The ponytail palm with its long curly hair atop a beaded plant stand is a nice balance to the ceramic pineapples with their varying geometric shapes. The wood tones of the irregular mirror in the back adds to the texture madness for a unique indoor plant styling situation, and I love it!
Group Plants of Similar Type
When playing around with indoor plant styling, it can be fun to have a “gang’s all here” vibe by grouping similar plants together like a little family.
Take the Opposite Approach and Group Plants of Totally Different Aesthetics
Rather than grouping similar plants together, you can take an opposite approach in your modern indoor plant styling and group plants with very different looking leaves together for a more dramatic effect. Here, we love the twisty, curvy leaves of a dracaena lemon lime against the tall straight leaves of a snake plant.
Artisan Baskets Elevate the Aesthetic for Indoor Plant Styling
For well-crafted artisan baskets, local nurseries and global stores like Home Goods are your friends! Just take care to keep the baskets from getting wet as they can easily mold and rot from getting wet. I make sure my plants have a water tray under them to try to prevent too much moisture from reaching my baskets.
Adding a fun tassel or pom pom to a basket adds for some extra flair!
