If you’re looking for a refreshing and colorful snack that’s perfect year-round, look no further than this delicious copycat berry fruit salsa for cinnamon chips! Bursting with the sweetness of blueberries, the crunch of apples, and the tropical flair of kiwi, this fruit salsa is a delightful twist on a classic favorite. Over the years, I have fallen in love with a fruit salsa made by a local establishment. Determined to create a similar version to pair with store bought cinnamon chips, I think I have struck a winner!
The Perfect Blend of Flavors
This fruit salsa is not only easy to make but also incredibly versatile. The combination of fresh blueberries, diced apples, and ripe kiwi creates a beautiful medley of colors and flavors. The key is to use ripe, flavorful fruits that complement each other, making every bite a delightful experience. If you don’t have the blackberry preserves, you can substitute strawberry preserves. The flavor profile shifts a little, but you will still get a heavenly fruit dip!
Ingredients:
- Fresh blueberries
- Fresh raspberries
- Strawberries, chopped
- Green apple, peeled and chopped (one large or two small)
- Ripe kiwis, peeled and diced
- Blackberry preserves
- Brown sugar
- Lemon
Making Fruit Salsa for Cinnamon Chips
Making this incredible berry fruit salsa is as simple as chopping some apples, kiwis, and strawberries and then adding the 8 total ingredients into a large bowl to mix together. You don’t even need a blender for this deliciousness!
What to Serve with Fruit Salsa (Other than Cinnamon Chips)
I like to serve my fruit salsa with Stacy’s Cinnamon Sugar Pita Chips which I find at nearly any grocery store. The price has gotten high on them though. If you prefer to make your own homemade cinnamon sugar tortilla chips, it isn’t difficult at all. You can make pie crust cinnamon chips or flour tortilla cinnamon chips. It will just add some extra time to your overall appetizer.
While fruit salsa and cinnamon chips are a match made in heaven, there are plenty of other delicious options to enhance your fruit salsa experience. Here are some great ideas to serve alongside your fruit salsa:
- Vanilla Yogurt: A creamy dip that pairs wonderfully with the fruity flavors.
- Pancakes or Waffles: Use the salsa as a topping for breakfast favorites.
- Cheese Platter: Soft cheeses like goat cheese or cream cheese can complement the fruity sweetness of the salsa.
- Grilled Chicken or Fish: A fruity salsa can add a refreshing twist to savory dishes.
- Fish Tacos: White fish tacos are elevated with a small drizzle of fruit salsa.
- Ice Cream: Serve the salsa over vanilla or coconut ice cream for a delightful dessert – similar to how you would serve ice cream with a strawberry topping.
- Tortilla Chips: For a crunchier alternative to cinnamon chips, regular tortilla chips work well too. Some people like the saltiness mixed with the tanginess and sweetness.
The Best Berry Fruit Salsa
Ingredients
- 1 lb Strawberries
- 1 Granny Smith apple 1 large or 2 small
- 2 Kiwis
- 8 oz Raspberries 1/2 pound
- 8 oz Blueberries
- 1 tbsp Brown sugar
- 1 Lemon juiced (or 2 tbsp of store-bought lemon juice)
- 3 tbsp Blackberry preserves can also use other fruit preserves like strawberry
Instructions
- Wash the fruit as desired. Peel the kiwis and the apple.
- On a cutting board, finely chop the strawberries, apple, and kiwi.
- In a large mixing bowl, add the chopped fruit along with the raspberries and blueberries. With a masher or large spoon, stir the fruit while partially mashing it up. You don't want it completely mashed to the point of liquid, but you do want the fruit broken down a bit and not as solid as when you started.
- Add the brown sugar, lemon juice, and preserves and stir until the mixture is well combined.
- If desired, mix in or garnish with fresh mint when serving. Serve with homemade or store-bought cinnamon sugar pita chips.
- Refrigerate until serving and refrigerate leftovers for 1-2 days. The fruit salsa will start to turn liquid-y if stored much longer than that.
