This year, my parents, my tía, The Hubs, Harper, Norah, and I decided to shake up our holiday tradition with a Fab‑Yule‑Ous Fiesta Christmas dinner – bursting with bold color, authentic Hispanic foods, and all the cozy warmth of family. Our fiesta Christmas dinner was a nice change from all the years of traditional American foods we usually eat.
No red and green cliché here—think colorful tablescapes, papel picado-style decorations, and a menu that makes everyone say, “¡Feliz Navidad, indeed!”

Foods for Our Fab-Yule-ous Fiesta Christmas Dinner
Our Christmas feast was a vibrant blend of traditional comfort and festive flavor. A lot of our recipes even are featured right here on the bloggity blog. I’ve linked them for you.
- Mexican Tamales – made by my mom’s good friend from Mexico
- Panamanian Arroz con Pollo – made by my mom and my aunt, both from Panamá, using a beloved family recipe that’s packed with Latin flavor and holiday heart
- Patacones (fried green plantains) – perfectly crisped and golden, thanks again to Mom and Tía!
- Black beans – seasoned with love and a little Panamanian magic
- Mexican street corn – because creamy, cheesy, spicy corn belongs at every celebration
- Berry Fruit Salsa – fresh, fruity, and made by yours truly (You could also make my mango salsa!)
- Slow cooker queso – okay, not exactly authentic, but come on… it’s queso. The pot was practically licked clean by the end of the night!
- Cinnamon churro bars – a sweet finish
While we didn’t serve this, our slow cooker elote would be great at a Christmas fiesta dinner, also!

Festive Fiesta Decor
Our decor matched the vibrant spirit of the season. We draped the table in serape-inspired runners, layered bright plates, and added bursts of color with yarn pom-poms on the tree, and authentic little trinkets —think fiesta meets Christmas!

Tips for Your Own Fab‑Yule‑Ous Fiesta Christmas Dinner
- Use a serape scarf as a table runner.
- Choose one big main dish and complement it with tasty sides. Check out my list of best side dishes for tamales!

All of those styles mesh well with a fiesta Christmas dinner.
- Add a festive Latino-inspired Christmas playlist and colorful ornaments to your Christmas decor.
