If you are in the planning stages of your upcoming cruise, then you need to learn all about the ever-popular game of seeking and hiding ducks on a cruise! Admittedly, this is one area we had not researched for our last cruise. Our daughters were so excited when they found their first cruise rubber duck, hidden on a post in an elevator! And so, today, we share the cutest cruising ducks on Amazon. Buy a few and join in the fun!
We had no idea what was going on when SB found this regal gold duck on a post in our elevator as we headed to the dining hall for dinner on Carnival Valor. The duck had a small note attached asking us to post a picture of our duck to Facebook.

What Are Cruising Ducks?
You know how some people paint rocks and then hide them around parks and neighborhoods for others to find? And then the finder can either choose to keep the fun, colorful rock or hide it elsewhere for someone else to find? Well, cruising ducks follow the same concept.
Cruise guests bring a certain set of ducks with them from home. And on the last couple days of the cruise, they hide them all over the cruise ship. The rule is you are not to hide the ducks inside any shops, pools, or hot tubs.
The staff members of the ships know and understand this game so they typically leave the ducks in place. In fact, it was a staff member on the Carnival Valor ship who first explained this whole thing to me. We walked into her area right after the girls found the golden duck. She could tell we didn’t really know what it was all about so she explained it all.
If you find a duck, you are encouraged to take your picture with it and post it in the the ship’s Facebook group.
Did you know that for most cruises, you can pretty much enter the name of your ship and the dates in the search bar on Facebook and find a Facebook group for your cruise? The groups are moderated by other cruise passengers, and it’s a fun way to learn about the ship and have lots of your questions answered. You might even make some cruise friends to meet up with during the cruise!
Some of the ducks are basic rubber ducks with cute notes. Others are plush ducks, slap bracelet ducks, and duck charms. One guest on our cruise even found some duck earrings and posted it to Facebook! Others found a cute bracelet with duck charms.
At the end of our cruise, some guests had collected up to 25 cruising ducks of all styles! The whole idea of hiding ducks on a cruise ship might seem a little silly to some. But it’s all in good fun! And you should see how intense some people are at the end of the cruise in hunting for those little cruising ducks!
I’m not that competitive of a person, and I honestly prefer to hide the ducks again for someone else to find – although my girls buck that idea. (They did finally agree to hide one of the three ducks they found, but it was a battle!) But I do think the ducks would make cute Christmas ornaments to hang on the tree every December. But I’m mawkish like that. I like to hang my travel souvenirs up each year on my tree so I can think back on the memories of the trips.

Speaking of flashy, that gold duck that we found in an elevator on the cruise was a 3D duck that had been made by the family that brought them aboard. I learned about its history in our ship’s Facebook group. How cool is that? (I blurred out the givers’ names for privacy reasons.)

We found a plush duck slap bracelet on the ship.
According to the lady who put them out, there had only been two. I have searched high and low on the great interwebs – on Amazon and beyond – and I cannot find a link for the slap bracelets. It looks like there are some on eBay, but no new products to link. It might be something more easily available at Easter time. If I ever find a link for slap bracelets, I will come back and add it!
Happy cruising, friends! I hope you have the best time!
