Our reservations were for 9:45 a.m. , and I got mixed up about our time. Too many things go on in a mom’s brain during a week at Disney World! Needless to say, we wound up running quite late because I didn’t realize until around 8:30 that our reservation was earlier than I thought it was! We had to book it! The restaurant was kind enough to hold our reservation for a while (which sounded like is a customary process). I was so very appreciative of that!
How to Reserve Breakfast at Chef Mickey’s Character Dining Restaurant
Chef Mickey’s character dining requires reservations. Although the lunch and dinner reservations seem to come open somewhat often on the My Disney App, the breakfast reservations at Chef Mickey’s are trickier to come by. (The Mousewatcher site I paid for for two months while planning my trip is how I finally got reservations.)
One thing to note is this character meal is different than some of the other Disney World character meals in that it is a Disney restaurant not located in a Disney theme park. This means you do not have to have a theme park ticket to enter. You also do not have to be a guest of the Disney Resort hotel the restaurant is located in. Read on for more on the Chef Mickey location.
Where is Chef Mickey’s at Disney World?
Walt Disney World’s Chef Mickey’s is located in The Contemporary Resort. We took the Skyliner from The Caribbean Beach Resort to arrive at The Contemporary. Depending on where you are coming from, your transportation might be the complimentary bus system, the Skyliner, or the Monorail. Or you might be driving your own car, of course.
What to Wear to Chef Mickey’s
Wear whatever casual outfit you want! Chef Mickey’s is a very casual Disney World restaurant. Most everyone was wearing shorts and t-shirts, light-weight dresses, and other summertime casual outfits at Chef Mickey’s.
My girls wore their Minnie Mouse short sets from Amazon. I wore a casual black t-shirt dress, my Hubs wore his Mickey Mouse Dad shirt. And the girls I wore our mouse ears, of course!
What Ages Are Best for Chef Mickey’s Character Dining?
My girls were 9 and 7 at the time of our trip, and they had an absolute blast on every single outing we did at Disney. Chef Mickey’s was no exception. Look at the smiles on their faces in these photos. Those smiles were truly genuine. They got so excited to see Mickey and the gang – even the 9 year old.
There were child the same age range as my girls, babies and toddlers, and teenagers dining with their families. In fact, at the table beside us, a boy was celebrating his 18th birthday at Chef Mickey’s. I think if you love Mickey and crew, you love them. And age doesn’t matter!
What Kind of Food To Expect When Eating Breakfast Chef Mickey’s
The breakfast meal is served family style – meaning there is no ordering from a menu. The waiter brings out various dishes every few minutes until your table can hardly hold a single thing more.
We were served pastries, fresh fruit, banana nut French toast, Mickey Mouse Waffles, Mickey Mouse pancakes, delicious hash brown casserole with a Mickey cheese crisp, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and even brisket!
It was a crazy amount of food, and it was all so good!
Which Chef Mickey Characters To Expect at The Contemporary Resort
The Chef Mickey characters come around to the tables several times. They are wonderful with the children – coming right up to any table with children (and even tables that only have adults) and interacting.
We saw all the traditional Mickey Mouse and crew characters except for Daisy Duck. Goofy told my girls Daisy was sleeping when they asked him about her whereabouts. Or at least he motioned it with his hands and head. Haha!
Donald and Pluto were probably the most animated and funny, though every single one of them were fun.
I can’t verify that you will see these exact same characters on your visit. I am only speaking from our one experience at Chef Mickey’s Breakfast.
What is the Chef Mickey Breakfast Cost?
The Chef Mickey breakfast cost for us was around $150 plus tip. It was the second priciest character meal we had at Disney World, but I found it 100% worth it for a first time trip to Disney with young children. The smiles of my girls while we were there was absolutely worth every penny. I am even smiling now as I write this post and look back over our photos.
Also, the food held us up all day since it was really more of a hearty Chef Mickey brunch for us since we reserved a later morning time, and we were able to skip lunch on that day.
