- 1 Pound Brussels Sprouts
- Olive oil
- Salt
- Black Pepper

You may have to batch cook if you are cooking the full pound of Brussels – depending on the size of your air fryer.
Seasoning for Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts
For this recipe, I stick to simple salt and pepper, most of the time. However, as I mentioned in the ingredients section above, you can use Slap Ya Mama or Tony Chachere’s or another favorite bold seasoning of your own if you wish for more of a kick.
We love Slap Ya Mama and Tony Chachere’s. We use them both often. They both offer a big kick so you have to be careful to not overdo it. Typically, I don’t steer away from those spices. However, one seasoning I have added to my pantry later is the Big Poppa’s Desert Gold seasoning that I use sometimes in my pan fried BJ’s copycat Brussels sprouts. It is so good!
Prepping the Brussels Sprouts
In this particular recipe, we start by trimming the ends off each sprout and then slicing the sprout in half, lengthwise. We have tried this recipe in the past with the whole sprouts, and it turned out okay. However, you get more sear when you have the sprouts split in half and the middle of the sprouts can get a bit softer.
Setting the Brussels Sprouts in the Air Fryer
You can choose to pre-heat your air fryer if you know your air fryer functions better when pre-heated. I don’t often pre-heat mine. I just place the ingredients in the basket – in a careful overlap pattern. You don’t want too much overlap because all sides of the vegetable slices need to be able to receive the hot air. However, with a really small air fryer, like mine, it is impossible to cook much of anything without a little overlap. You may have to cook into multiple batches.
For the photos in this post, I actually used my little air fryer pan. It worked fine. And I love this pan for so many things. But I do think going forward I will go back to just putting the sprouts in the regular air fryer basket so the hot air can reach more edges of the sprouts. When the sprouts are piled in the skillet, the ones in the middle do not receive as much air – which is what is used to cook foods in an air fryer.
You will want your air fryer set at 400 degrees to give the vegetables that soft tender texture with a crispy outer edge.
