Served a la mode fashion, air fryer apples with ice cream couldn’t be any more delicious! You don’t even have to remove the skin. These air fryer apples with oats can be made in advance and reheated and topped with ice cream when you are ready to serve.
Here in Arkansas, we’ve never really had much chance for apple picking! It seems like a dreamy fall activity for those who have apple orchards nearby!
Why We Love Air Fryer Desserts
Air fryer desserts seem less daunting than oven desserts. Why? I’m not sure. But they just do!
Enter the air fryer!
We all know I love a good air fryer dessert. I mean my air fryer blueberry fried pies and my air fryer peaches are super popular for good reason! And so are our air fryer peaches!
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons salted butter, melted and divided
- 4 large Honeycrisp apples
If you’ve ever made baked apples in the oven, the concept is very similar with these apples in the air fryer. You will get a bit of caramelization near the edges with the sweet flavor on the inside of the apples.
Storage, Advance Prep, and Reheating Instructions
- Store leftover air fryer baked apples in the refrigerator for up to 2 days for the ideal taste and texture. Be sure to let them cool completely before placing them into an airtight container or bag for storage.
- Make the filling ahead of time and store it in an airtight container on the counter to save time.
- To reheat: Place the apples onto a microwave-safe plate and microwave for 30-45 seconds until sufficiently warmed. Alternatively, warm in the air fryer for 5-7 minutes at 300 degrees. This will allow the top to remain crispy.
Recipe Tips for Air Fryer Stuffed Apples
- Serve topped with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
- Be sure to choose apples with vibrant coloring that are firm and free from blemishes.
- The topping will be soft when warm and crisp up as it cools.
- To prevent apples from tipping over, you can place them into a small air fryer pan that fits your air fryer or nestle them slightly against each other so they won’t budge.
- You can baste the apples with additional melted butter a couple of times while cooking to retain more moisture.

There are so many options when it comes to toppings for air fried apples.

Air Fryer Apples with Oats
Equipment
- 1 air fryer
Ingredients
- ½ cup Oats old fashioned rolled oats
- 2 tbsp All purpose flour
- 2 tbsp Light brown sugar
- ½ tsp Cinnamon
- 2 tbsp Butter melted and divided; salted or unsalted
- 4 Apples Honeycrisp; large
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees.
- In a medium bowl, mix together the oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and 1 tablespoon of butter until well combined. It should have a wet, sand-like consistency that stays together when packed into a spoon.
- Cut each apple in half and use a spoon or melon baller to remove the core, leaving an indent about the size of 2 tablespoons.

- Divide the filling evenly among the apples. Spoon into the cored section and use the back of the spoon to firmly pack.
- *Place the filled apples into the air fryer basket and cook for 12-15 minutes. When done, the apples should be lightly brown and fork-tender. Feel free to cook for additional time if you prefer a softer apple.
- Allow 10 minutes for apples to cool a bit and for the topping to fully crisp before serving.
- Add vanilla ice cream or topping of your choice.
