- 2 tbsp Mayo or softened butter
- 2 slices Bread thick (like sourdough)
- 2 slices Ham deli style of your choice; thinly sliced
- ½ cup Mozzarella cheese or one slice; can also use Asiago cheese
- 1 tbsp Sandwich spread mayo, mustard or flavored variations
- ¼ Green apple optional
Preheat panini press to 350 degrees.
Spread the outside of one bread slice with one tablespoon of butter or mayo. Place the bread with the spread facing down onto a plate.
Next, layer on the ham. You may need to fold the ham or trim the ham to ensure there isn’t too much overhang.
Optional: Over the ham, add enough slices of thinly sliced green apples - around 5 or 6 - enough to cover the surface evenly.
Over the ham and apples (if using), layer the shredded cheese.
On the second slice of bread, add your favorite sandwich spread (mustard or mayo) to one side. Place this slice of bread on the sandwich with the spread facing down.
Add a bit more butter or mayonnaise to the outer side of the top bread before transferring the sandwich to the panini press.
Grill the sandwich for 6-7 minutes until it turns golden brown.
Serve warm with additional slices of apple.
