Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 1 lb Ground pork sausage
  • ½ cup Yellow onion chopped
  • 1 tbsp Garlic minced
  • 15 oz Pinto beans drained and rinsed
  • 15 oz Dark red kidney beans drained and rinsed
  • 15 oz Tomato sauce
  • 15 oz Diced tomatoes
  • 3 tbsp Tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp Maple syrup
  • 3 tbsp Chili powder
  • 2 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Cumin
  • ½ tsp Smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • ½ tsp Black pepper
  • 1 cup Beef broth
  • Cheddar cheese shredded; optional
  • Fritos optional
  • Green onions optional

Instructions

  • Start by heating a large pot over medium-high heat.
  • Add the ground beef, ground sausage, yellow onion, and minced garlic. Sauté for about 8-10 minutes or until beef is fully cooked.
  • Drain and return meat to pot.
  • Then add the pinto beans, kidney beans, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, and maple syrup to the mixture. Stir to combine well.
  • Add the spices and the beef broth. Stir to combine well.
  • Bring the uncovered chili to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and let the chili simmer for about 10-15 minutes.
  • Add your delicious toppings, and serve warm!
