One of my favorite things about Easter is playing around with my spring table setting for Easter dinner! I just love the fun pops of colors, the sweet bunnies, and the textures.
When setting my spring table setting for Easter dinner the last few years, I incorporated a bit of pattern mixing. Some years I go bold. Other years, I go mellow.
This year, I went for a soothing color palette of green, yellow, and purple with just a few touches of turquoise and pink.
Accessorizing for a Spring Table Setting for Easter Dinner
To start, I picked up these fun circular place mats at Home Goods. The light-colored purple with the silver dots ties in perfectly to a soft palette for a spring table setting.
Next, I found the yellow-and-white striped napkins at Home Goods. I love the idea of the polka dots and the contrasting pattern of the yellow stripes. At home, I already had a green-and-white striped table runner. Also, I pulled out my galvanized metal chargers which I bought at Kirkland’s last year.
Succulents in a Spring Table Setting for Easter Dinner
Together, I have a tri-pattern going on here. When pattern-mixing, I prefer to layer in three patterns. In the past, I have read that it is best to mix two small patterns and one large pattern. However, that is not necessarily the rule I follow. I follow what I like. Sometimes, that means using two small patterns and one big. Other times, it might be two big patterns and one small. Sometimes, it might be three small patterns. I like what I like, and I don’t usually know I will like it until I put the three patterns together.
Truthfully, I’m not certain it is even possible anymore for me to create a holiday table setting without plants! Of course, there was my Christmas table setting with live plants. Now, there is my Easter table setting with succulents.
Two years ago, I found some Easter bunny planters at the Target dollar aisle. I think they are actually supposed to be candy dishes, but I use them as planters. Last year, I found some that were a bit smaller at Cracker Barrel. I love how these little planters bring a natural element to my Easter table setting. I buy most of my succulents at Lowe’s. As I mentioned in my post about classroom plants, one of our local Lowe’s employers has been somewhat of a plant mentor to me these last several year.
The little Easter egg flower pots came from Target’s dollar aisle last Easter season. They originally had flower seeds to put inside. This year, I put these cute little air plants from Lowe’s inside. Aren’t they precious?
Last week, I found a new bunny with a hollow spot for a plant or candy at Tuesday Morning. I decided to put pastel-colored mints (also from Tuesday Morning) in his belly for our Easter dinner.
The candle holders are part of the of Chip and Joanne line from Target. I found them at Christmas and bought them in multiple colors so I could color-play with them for various holidays – not only Christmas.
Dishes for a Spring Table Setting for Easter Dinner
One of the best decisions I ever made was registering for a rainbow of colors of Fiestaware when I got married. I have the best time mixing colors of the Fiestaware for various holiday and seasonal table settings. If you have several sets of Fiestaware (or even similar colorful dishes that are not Fiestaware), the Colorama tool at the Fiesta website is for mixing colors and finding a combination you like for a spring table setting or other tablescape theme. Of course, you can swing a beautiful spring table setting without colorful dishes. White dishes are beautiful on an Easter table setting, as well! In fact, I currently have my eye on some white Fiesta dishes.
The girls really got into helping me “make the Easter table” this year. They begged and begged to help for two days – from the first minute I mentioned setting up the Easter table setting. They were too cute as they carefully placed everything on the table. Seriously, I hope they grow up to enjoy decorating holiday tables for Easter dinner and Christmas dinner as much as I do!
