Putting Together Our Own Dairy Free Smoothie
With all the fruit smoothie recipes out there, I thought it would be easy to find something that matched what I already had in the kitchen. But no. In the end, I became overwhelmed with all the fruit smoothie options out there. Did I want a banana smoothie? A peach smoothie? A pineapple smoothie? Or maybe I wanted a frozen strawberry smoothie?
In the end, I wound up coming up with my own recipe based on the packages of frozen mixed fruit we had in the freezer and a couple of bananas in our fruit tray. A lot of the fruit smoothie recipes I found were yogurt smoothies. We didn’t have any yogurt on hand, but we did have orange juice. So an orange juice smoothie it was! Besides, non dairy smoothies might be best anyway with so many dietary concerns these days.

Ice in Smoothies or No Ice in Smoothies?
To put ice is smoothies is totally up to preference. We do not put ice in our smoothies, typically. We try to keep frozen fruit on hand. The frozen fruit adds the frosty element to the smoothie, eliminating the need for extra ice – to suit our preference. However, some people do prefer their smoothies much more icy. If so, 1/2 cup to one cup of ice can be added.
Just be aware that the more ice you add to a smoothie, the more the fruit flavor will dilute. This is especially true once the ice begins to melt down. It waters down the juice of the drink.
Making Dairy Free Tropical Smoothies
Basically, you will dump all the frozen smoothie mix ingredients into the blender and blend.
Think you can handle that?
I think you’ve got it!
I mean, my kids make smoothies like pros! First, they add the frozen fruits. Next, they add the banana. Lastly, they add the orange juice and blend it all up. It is such an easy recipe for kids to help with!
Look at my little princesses working their magic with these tropical smoothies!
Our non dairy smoothies always turn out pretty darn yummy.
The little princesses sure think they hit the spot! Since we were celebrating Valentine’s Day the first time we ever made our smoothies, SB named our non dairy smoothie a “Sweetheart Surprise Fruit Smoothie.”
And now, Little One will randomly ask in her sweet little voice, “Can we make a sweetheart smoothie?” How can I say no?
I love the age these girlies are right now. Yes, there is a TON of fighting, but there is also a whole lotta love. The girls live and breath off of princess life, and it is just the sweetest thing ever.
