Are you staying warm? Today, I’m sharing more recipes for that leftover pulled pork. I think this is my fifth pulled pork recipe, thanks to all those pork butts the Hubs smokes every four to six weeks. If you enjoy a good easy slow cooker soup or chili, check this smoked pork green chili slow cooker recipe. Pretty much, this smoked pork chili with salsa verde and beans is the slow cooker version of the stove top pork chili I published a few months ago (linked at the bottom of this post). You will love it!
Making Smoked Pork Chili in the Slow Cooker
If you find yourself with a few cups of leftover pulled pork, this smoked pork green chili slow cooker recipe is for you!
You can use leftover smoked pork of any type – smoked pulled pork, leftover slow cooker pulled pork, or with oven roasted pulled pork leftovers. I often see containers of smoked pork for sale at my local grocery store in the deli section.
You add a half tablespoon of cumin and a half tablespoon of chili powder to the meat.
Other Ingredients for Green Chili Pork and Beans
You will also need three cans of beans. In my recipe card below, you will see I am using light red kidney beans, dark red kidney beans, and Great Northern beans. But I have used different beans – like pinto beans or garbanzo beans – in this recipe before, as well.
Of course, for a smoked pork green chili recipe you also need a jar of salsa verde. It doesn’t really matter the brand, but you need a 16 ounce jar.
Layering Everything in a Crock Pot
All that is left in the process is to layer everything in your slow cooker. Seriously, when I say easy, I mean easy! I just start with the canned beans and the smoked pork and follow with the rest.
What to Serve with This Smoked Pork Green Chili Slow Cooker Recipe
For a truly quick green pork chili, I simply serve mine with homemade tortillas or even just tortilla chips. I like to add slices of lime to the side of the bowl or garnish it on top of the pork chili so people can squeeze in a bit of fresh lime juice as they wish. Plus, the pop of green is a nice color against the brown of the soup.
