Welcome to our pom pom Christmas tour! If you like color and texture, you are in the right place! After much arranging and rearranging, I am finally ready to share this year’s pom pom Christmas tree, pom pom Christmas decorations for the mantle, and other plant and pom pom ideas for Christmas!
Colorful Nativity Tapestry with Pom Pom Christmas Decorations
I’m especially excited about my Nativity tapestry that is hanging over the mantle this year. Earlier this summer, I saw a post on Facebook Marketplace for this gorgeous hand-sewn Nativity tapestry. As it turns out, the people selling were prior missionaries to Senegal. They had purchased the hand-sewn tapestry from a local artisan while they lived there, but then had never actually used it once they returned to the states. And on to Marketplace it went! Next stop, my mantle! I was so excited to find such a global find and then learn the back story of it.
Even more amazing…I posted a picture of my mantle in one of my Facebook home decor groups. One lady was eager to try to find one, and she found a very similar one featured by this Senegal artisan! It seems like Samba, the guy mentioned on the site, and his crew had to have been the one to sew mine! Or maybe I am just naive to think that. Either way, I think it is amazing she was able to hunt down a possible source of this artisan Nativity tapestry artwork on the great wide internet!
Here is a closer view. Various African print fabric squares are sewn onto the perimeter of this Nativity wall hanging. It is just so beautiful!
I knew when I bought it in August that it was going to be the framework for my Christmas decor this year. I added my big felt Christmas tree from Home Goods and my medium-sized pom pom tree from the gift shop at Garvan Woodland Gardens to a small yarn flower tree from At Home. To add even more pom pom Christmas decorations, I dangled three pom pom Christmas tree garlands from the mantle, as well as a fun rainbow tinsel garland on top.
In front of the mantle are three of my favorite plants: a Firestick, a Birds of Paradise, and a huge Ponytail Palm, all decked out for Christmas. By the way, if you are a plant person or know one, be sure to check out my suggestions for plants for Christmas gifts and decor!
Bottlebrush Tree Display on China Hutch
Last year, I did boho Christmas decor with bottlebrush trees on the mantle. As you will see, I still used my bottlebrush trees this year but just in a different display. This will make year three for using the bottlebrush trees since two years ago, I had the bottlebrush trees display on my dining table.
I let my girls go to town setting up the bottle brush trees this year.
I’m not going to lie. It did kind of hurt my heart to not have my bottle brush trees on full display again on the mantle. I was tempted to put them on the mantle again. But you can still see the whole display from the living room view into the kitchen along with more gorgeous plants! How cute is the little flamingo in a Santa hat plant ornament?
Pom Pom Christmas Tree
I’m not really one for a themed tree typically. Our Christmas tree is a memory tree – filled with mawkish, sentimental items picked up during travels and handmade by our little girls. My mother-in-law gifts us a family ornament every year, and I also display any ornaments gifted to me by friends and family over the years.
We usually always do white lights, but I do like to change out the garlands and the filler items since the ornaments stay the same year to year. This year, I added a pom pom Christmas tree topper in the shape of a star. Also, I added pom pom Christmas tree garland, alternated with more rainbow Christmas tinsel which is from Hobby Lobby. I bought the garland from various places over the last couple of years: At Home, Garvan Gardens gift shop, and Hobby Lobby.
To switch things out this year, I traded my colorful tree skirt for a gray-toned Christmas tree collar.
Most of the pom pom ornaments were purchased from the Garvan Gardens gift shop and Hobby Lobby (last year).
Other Pom Pom Ideas for Christmas
I love this leather vase full of pom pom picks and random glittery curly picks.
This sweet pillow has the cutest pom poms all around in this little sitting corner. Would you believe I found it at Walgreens last year on an after-Christmas clearance?
Pom Pom Christmas Stockings
You may remember these black-and-white plaid stockings from my black-and-white Christmas. This year, I turned them into pom pom Christmas stockings by adding some of my pom pom ornaments to them. It is a simple and budget-friendly update to go with my theme!
Simple Christmas Dining Room This Year
I left our dining room very simple this year. Normally, I put out my festive placemats and Fiestaware as you probably saw in some of the posts I linked here. But this year, I just feel like keeping it reigned in a little more. No pom poms here, but there are plenty of plants!
Surrounding the armoire are my prized monstera, a large golden pothos I won last Christmas in a Dirty Santa game, a snake plant, and a second pothos (out of picture) that normally live in the living room. The tassle hanging on the armoire ties in well with the tassle-style ornaments on the Christmas tree.
Standing grandly on the top of the armoire is a hand-carved wooden Santa I brought home from Russia during my trip there years ago. In front is a Marble Queen pothos and a gorgeous air plant that adds instant style to everything he touches!
Isn’t the letter board a fun touch? If you like to decorate with letter boards, you are in luck! I have a series of 10 (and growing) posts on letter board quotes for all occasions, including my Christmas sayings for signs and letter boards post!
I bought this baquette dough bowl at a local artisan market a month or so ago. The shiny vintage-style ornaments are lying on a bed of air moss.
Simple Christmas Touches in the Guest Room
I love the little pom pom wreath on the wall above the bed. It, along with my husband’s grandmother’s nutcracker, adds just a tiny festive touch to the room.
And, there you have it! I hope you enjoyed these plant, tassle, and pom pom ideas for Christmas! And if your taste swings more farmhouse than boho, be sure to tour my best friend’s modern farmhouse Christmas home! I think this may be my final Christmas-related post of the season so I will sign off with…Merry Christmas!
