The months-long heat wave has started in Arkansas…which means one thing. It’s time for some fun summer porch decor! Last year and this year, I’ve popped my adorable metal flamingos on the front porch for a fun welcome to summer. Anyone who drives by surely can’t miss my enthusiasm for summer with my plant and pink flamingo porch! After all, what says summer more than tropical plants and flamingo decor?

Funny story time…
Last year, I bought my second fun flamingo planter from a local nursery (now closed, sadly). I got my flamingo porch all set up like I wanted. About a week later, there was a knock on the door. One of our sweet neighbors had come over to congratulate us on the new addition! He said he saw the “pink storks” from the street and was excited for us! Oh, my word! I was so mortified that people in the neighborhood thought I had popped out another baby at my ripe age. But the Hubs and I got some laughs out of it. The poor neighbor was so embarrassed when we pointed out the creatures were flamingos and were simply part of our summer decor.
I almost considered not putting the flamingos together on the front porch this year, but….nah! They are meant to be together! The arrangement is a little different this year. The first picture at the top of the post is from last year – the only one I took. The rest of the photos, starting with this next one, are from this year so you will notice the porch decor and the plants are different.
Flamingo Statues
The first flamingo statue, Pink Lady, came from the king of all things summer, Hobby Lobby. I think I paid about $50 for her or something like that. I saw them there at the store again this year.
Magenta Magnificent, the second flamingo planter statute, which I referenced above, is fabulous with her ability to boast a gorgeous plant or flower pot right on her back! She cost a bit more than Pink Lady, but she is worth every penny!
Additional Decor for Our Flamingo Porch
Everything else I added to the pink flamingo porch were just things I already had – the plaid rug, the “hi” mat in the first photo, and the tropical door hanger which I bought from a local craft fair. This pink “hi” mat is also so cute for a pink flamingo porch. It may just find it’s way into my cart!
Once upon a time, I had some other outdoor flamingo planters with baskets which you can see here in our back patio addition post from a couple years ago. They would also make a cute addition to a flamingo porch. And, holy moly, do I ever need these adorable pink flamingo propagation planters!
Plants to Enhance a Pink Flamingo Porch
My beautiful split-leaf philodendron shines on the back of Magenta Magnificent in the first picture. Last year’s porch also included a pink mandevilla (also known as rocktrumpet) – one of the only plants that can actually withstand the extreme sun and heat my porch receives in the late afternoon. Mandevillas like to be in full sun so they work out perfectly just as long as I remember to water multiple times a week. Since the majority of my plants remain on the back porch and indoors, it is sometimes easy for me to forget to water on the front porch…eeek! Speaking of watering, I definitely think I might need this pink flamingo watering can in my life! My cart just keeps getting bigger!
A few other pink trailing plants were added for color last year.
This year, I left the philondendron on the back porch since split-leaf philondendrons prefer indirect bright light – so the back porch with its morning sun is a great spot for it – not so intense. Last year, the sun burned it a bit when it was on the front porch.
For the front porch this year, I chose a smaller plant – a Christmas cactus that needed some sunlight on the flamingo. The Christmas cactus was a gift from my mom last year during the holidays. I’m hoping this season of sun and heat will help it to thrive for the fall and winter season.
Again, I added another mandevilla and my long-time yucca plant that can also withstand the intense sun on the front porch. My poor yucca got a little neglected over the winter while hibernating in the garage. But he’ll bounce back. He always does!
The flower pots on the porch are just some from the huge collection of pots I have gathered over the years in my plant lady journey.
Well, I hope you enjoyed a mini tour of our plant and pink flamingo porch! Have a most flamazing summer!
