These pan fried Brussels sprouts with honey sriracha sauce have been on rotation ever since I tried the BJ’s Brussels sprouts a while ago. This recipe produces delicious seared skillet Brussels sprouts with honey sriracha sauce, and it is to die for! I’m not saying this is an exact BJ’s Brussels Sprouts copycat, but it is highly inspired by it!

Is It Brussel Sprouts or Brussels Sprouts or Brussle Sprouts?
Certain words just lend themselves to spelling confusion. Since this cabbage-related vegetable is named after the capital city of Belgium, the proper name is Brussels – just like the city. According to historians, Brussels sprouts originated in the Brussels area. Many people say Brussel sprouts because they don’t realize the origin of the name. And yet other people reverse the last two letters, saying Brussle sprouts.
Another thing to point out is that it is a proper now (BECAUSE cities are proper nouns) so it takes a capital letter at the beginning.
Sorry…the English teacher in me came out here!
How To Trim Brussels Sprouts
Before you toss your Brussels sprouts into the skillet, you will need to trim them up and divide them. Place them on a cutting board and chop the stem end off – just as you would most any vegetable before cooking. Remove any loose or fading leaves from the outer edges.
Then, slice each Brussels sprout into half lengthwise.
The Importance of Searing Brussels Sprouts When Pan Frying
If you want to have the true crispy outer edges, you will want to sear Brussels sprouts in a bit of oil for true pan fried Brussels sprouts. If you follow the process correctly, you will turn up amazing Brussels sprouts with crispy outsides and soft chewy insides.
I try to not overcrowd my skillet. I use a larger size so the pan Brussels sprouts plenty of space to spread out and get nice and seared.
Is This Brussels Sprouts with Honey Sriracha Sauce a Copycat BJs Brussels Sprouts Recipe?
As I said, I didn’t go out of my way to make an exact copycat of BJs Brussels Sprouts. But I was highly inspired by the fantastic dish the restaurant offers. The Brussels sprouts at BJs uses Big Poppa Smokers Desert Gold seasoning rub. I ordered some and use that now when I make these pan fried Brussels sprouts with honey sriracha sauce topping.
This Big Poppa’s seasoning is great on so many other things! I use it on all kinds of vegetable dishes and also eggs!
But before ordering this Big Poppa Desert Gold seasoning, I made my own spicy blend out of chili powder, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper for this dish.
When to Serve Skillet Brussels Sprouts with Honey Sriracha Sauce?
At BJs, the pan fried Brussels sprouts with honey sriracha is part of the appetizers menu at the time I write. I have also seen shareable sized Brussel sprouts on other restaurant menus as appetizers.
Of course, it is also very typical to serve Brussels sprouts as a side dish. Therefore, feel free to serve this dish as an appetizer or as a side dish.
