You will have so much fun making this New Year’s charcuterie board which boasts a festive variety of cheeses, meats, and crackers arranged in the iconic shape of a ticking clock! We have served this NYE charcuterie board with cheese clock to kids and adults, and it has been enjoyed by all!
Why We Love this New Year’s Charcuterie Board
Putting together this NYE charcuterie board will give you both a delicious NYE snack board but also a fun table decoration at the same time! It’s so pretty that people will be hesitant to start pulling food from it!
Ingredients
- Assorted meats (ham, turkey, prosciutto, salami, pepperoni, etc.)
- Round block of Brie cheese
- A variety of cheeses (pepper jack, cheddar, gouda)
- Fresh and dried fruits (grapes, dried cranberries, figs, apricots, etc.)
- Mixed nuts (almonds, walnuts, pecans)
- Sliced bread, Breadsticks, or crackers
- Honey or a Dijon mustard
Process for Layering the New Year’s Charcuterie Board
Start by selecting a large wooden board or platter as your canvas. Take a creative approach to the assembly process. Start by choosing a tray or board in a black, white, or gold to elevate the NYE theme.
Using an edible pen make a clock on the brie and anchor it in the center.
Begin arranging the cured meats in loose rolls or folds, giving them height and volume.
Place an assortment of cheeses around the board, ensuring different shapes, sizes, and textures.
Add clusters of grapes interspersed with dried cranberries (or dried fruit of choice).
Scatter mixed nuts for a salty crunch. Or you can contain them in a small bowl.
Arrange bread in an artful manner. I like to have the bread on a separate serving platter to the side so it doesn’t become wet from any of the fruit or meat.
Drizzle honey, Dijon mustard, jams, or sauces of your choice in small dishes for dipping.
Substitutions and Variations for NYE Charcuterie Board
- Experiment with different cheeses, such as cheddar, Gouda, or goat cheese.
- Of course, the grapes and cranberries can be switched for other fruits. Just be sure to include fruits so the board has a vibe of freshness!
Storage and Advance Prep
- To store your New Year’s charcuterie board, carefully cover it with plastic wrap or aluminum foil, ensuring that the wrapping does not disturb the arrangement of the cheeses, meats, and garnishes. I like to tent the foil so it doesn’t touch the cheese clock. Refrigerate the board promptly to preserve the freshness of the ingredients, and when ready to serve again, allow it to come to room temperature for about 20-30 minutes to enhance the flavors before presenting this festive and delicious centerpiece at your holiday gathering.
- Personally, I do not like to store bread or crackers and such on the platter. I just add those crunchy items on just before serving.
