Happy December, friends! I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to show off my bestie’s brand new modern rustic farmhouse all decked out for Christmas! Seriously, this home is absolutely gorgeous, and it is even more so in all its modern farmhouse Christmas splendor!
Nearly two years ago, when my best friend and her husband set out to build their new home in Louisiana, I knew it would have rustic touches. However, I also knew my friend was into neutrals and luxury finds so I anticipated an overall modern rustic farmhouse vibe.
My friend admitted she began to feel nervous during the initial construction of the home. With all of the rustic elements slated for their modern farmhouse plans, she was worried she would be “living in Bass Pro Shop.”
After they hired Louisiana interior designer, Julie Rogers, this lavish home is anything but Bass Pro! Both my friend and Rogers were kind enough to answer all the questions I had about the style elements of this newly constructed beauty.
As you see, my friends chose an overall neutral color scheme for this modern rustic farmhouse. Their Christmas decor echos this theme – in hues of gold and creams with subtle pops of red here and there.
Foyer Christmas Decorations
In the foyer, an antique wooden console boasts a vintage nativity scene passed down from my friend’s grandmother. The foyer table is a piece found by Rogers at a flea market in Round Top, Texas. According to Rogers, the piece is originally from England.
Sconce lighting flanks either side of the table, adding even more glow. This entry gives the vibes of a modern farmhouse Christmas the moment you step through the door!
Modern Rustic Christmas in the Living Room
The open air design of the home features a rectangular-shaped living room with the Christmas tree at the head of the room. The Christmas tree is decorated in a very simple style using heirloom Hallmark tree ornaments the family has collected over many years.
My friends zip-tied their Christmas tree to two heavy pallets underneath to prevent the tree from being tipped over by a certain precious little 13-month-old.
I am not sure I would say these are necessarily farmhouse Christmas stockings nor are they necessarily rustic farmhouse Christmas decor. But these monogrammed and embroidered stockings are traditional so that they work perfectly in this modern farmhouse style.
An existing pottery jug on the coffee table brings Christmas cheer when teamed with greenery and sparkle. The theme of small Christmas trees is carried through from the entry to the coffee table to the living room console.
Modern farmhouse furniture grounds the living room. The gray sofa, cream swivel chairs, and sleek leather recliners are outfitted with simple Christmas pillows. The tongue and groove pine ceiling is painted white in contrast to the wood beams. (More on those gorgeous real wood beams later!)
Modern Farmhouse Christmas Kitchen
Some simple touches of Christmas can be found in the corners of the beautiful white kitchen. A reindeer dish serves as a sponge holder near the farmhouse apron sink.
I just love the hands and feet Christmas platters my friends have put up each year since their kids were young.
My girls enjoyed drinking hot chocolate and doing artwork on this island with quartzite counter top.
The farmhouse kitchen is glammed up with modern farmhouse lighting fixtures in brass and cushioned saddle seat bar stools.
A round 8-seat pedestal table from Paul Michael’s in Monroe, Louisiana, is surrounded by round mesh back chairs from Forty West in Dallas. The chairs, with oatmeal linen cushions, are lightweight and can be easily moved to flank the console table in the dining area. This is the perfect farmhouse dining table.
Next, this modern farmhouse chandelier over the table is a standout with its dainty beadwork against the metal.
A metallic bowl on the table boasts glittery Christmas ornaments and greenery.
Now, can we talk more about these amazing real wood beams? All the wood beams on ceilings in the house were found at Quachita Antique Woods in Monroe. The ceiling beams originated from a tobacco mill in Canada.
Tucked away into a hall off of the kitchen is another table adorned with a Christmas card tree and rustic modern farmhouse touches.
Modern Farmhouse Christmas in the Master Bedroom
The master bedroom acknowledges Christmas with one simple moss reindeer. This minimalist Christmas decor in the bedroom allows the real showstoppers – another wood beam ceiling and the barn door – to shine through.
Everything about this bedroom screams rustic farmhouse style! From the modern farmhouse bedding of fluffy neutral linens to the muted rug, this room is peaceful. The real wood beams, the whitewashed wood ceiling, and the modern farmhouse lighting all draw the eye upward.
Rogers said she glazed the tongue and groove pine ceiling in this room and in the bonus room by using a water and 50% paint mixture with a wiping technique.
The barn door leads to an office area.
This modern farmhouse bedroom decor is everything it should be for a rustic farmhouse – streamlined with minimalist accessories and a neutral palette.
Guest Bathroom with Hexagon Tile and Touch of Christmas
Finally, this guest bathroom off of the living area is the smallest of the bathrooms in the house, but it is my favorite bathroom! Just look at this amazing hexagon tile! The large hexagon tile might also be referred to as a honeycomb floor tile. This particular white hexagon tile has a ceramic base with a whitewashed finish to resemble wood.
With the size of the bathroom and the eye-catching floor, this room called for very simple farmhouse style Christmas decor – one small manger picture on the counter.
No doubt, this hexagon floor tile might just be one of my favorite features in my friends’ modern farmhouse plans!
Seriously, many thanks to my friends for allowing me to share their farmhouse Christmas decorations on my little bloggity-blog! With my home’s boho Christmas style, I don’t usually get the opportunity to post about farmhouse Christmas decorating!
