There might be no better welcome back gift for teachers right now for a teacher than a face mask and teacher gifts baskets with cleaning supplies! Well, and wine. But you know…gotta keep things appropriate, right? Check out this free face mask gift printable that you can add to cute face masks for starting school gifts this year!
No doubt, every parent I know has been drained over the decision to send their children to school (if that choice is open), to sign up for virtual learning (if that option is available), or to flat-out homeschool this school year. Then, there are the parents who would have preferred to choose virtual or home-school but could not do to work commitments. No choice is wrong. I commend all the moms and dads out there who have been agonizing over this decision.
As a parent, this is going to be year 8 for me as a school mom. And this is going to be year 17 for me (I think) as an educator, and I can tell you few school starts have loomed as daunting or nerve-racking as this one. Every single educator I know is anxious and nervous, worried for their students, for their students’ families, for themselves, and for their own families whom they share a home with.
I like to think we will all survive this year – though we are all probably in for one heck of a ride! Parents need the support of the teachers, and teachers cannot survive without the support of the parents. But if we all work together, we shall make it through!
The Perfect 2020 Welcome Back Gift for Teachers
One way I am going to support my daughters’ teachers and my own coworker teacher friends is by gifting them a cute face mask with some Reese’s peanut butter cups and a cute gift tag for a welcome back gift for teachers. My youngest daughter will start kindergarten this year (cue the tears!), and my oldest will start second grade. While, I wish they were starting under more optimistic circumstances, I know they will be in good hands.
A few weeks ago, I set up our own family mask station in the laundry room/mud room drop off zone. I often command the girls to do something and end the statement with “buttercup.” You know…like “chin up, buttercup.” I decided to write, “Mask up, buttercup” on our laundry room chalkboard sign with an accordion wall shelf display of our masks. The display is for clean masks only. Each day as we enter the home, we immediately deposit our dirty masks into a lingerie wash bag that remains in the laundry room hamper.
Over the last few months, my mom has made over 500 face masks. She donated most to nursing homes and essential workers in her area. And she also sent me about 50 to donate to some school employees – teachers, secretaries, custodians, principals – in my area.
After brainstorming what I wanted to do for our welcome back gifts for teachers, I decided to use the “buttercup” phrase along with some Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and the face masks.
The face mask gift for teachers idea turned out so cute!
For my girls’ teachers’ starting school gifts, I made a face mask gift basket with several boxes of Kleenex and Pilot FriXion Eraseable Pens (my absolute FAVE classroom pens).
