Ladies night in is a chance to unwind in a relaxed environment with some of your favorite people. There is just something about leaving all your work cares, life drama, and exhaustion behind for a few hours of laughs and stories with your girlfriends. Today, I’m sharing a list of 31 ladies night in ideas.
As someone who has mingled within many different ladies groups in my day, I am more than aware that each ladies group has its own vibe. Some vibes are mellow and just want to chill with a quiet dinner and talking. Other groups are more energetic and want to stay busy doing something while they chat.
Some groups of friends like the familiarity of doing the same routine every time. Yet, other groups of lady friends prefer to change it up every time and try something new.
While some groups of ladies don’t mind splurging on ladies night in, not everyone is in that same boat. Some groups prefer to stick to a reasonable price line when it comes to getting together with friends.
31 Ideas for Ladies Night In

- Have a cocktail making night with a variety of mixers and ingredients.
- Host a scrapbooking night where everyone brings photos and supplies to add to their neglected scrapbooks and photo albums. Just know this party gets messy! But that is part of the fun!
- Around Christmas, host a gift wrapping party where everyone brings their gifts to wrap.
- Host a wine and paint night with canvases and acrylic paints.
- Have a Friendsgiving in November around Thanksgiving.
- Host a vision board making party with magazines and art supplies. This one is fun to do in January when many people are goal-setting for the new year.
- Have a clothing swap party where everyone brings clothes to trade. The highlight of the night is the fashion show!
- Host a favorite things party where everyone brings one favorite (appetizer, cocktail, music, movie, gift) to share with the others.
- Have a plant party where everyone comes and plants succulents and small plants in potting soil and pots to take home.
- Have a themed book club meeting with snacks and drinks.
- Host a clean-out-the-fridge party after the holidays with each lady bringing a leftover dish from her holiday party for a super low-key, low-fuss night of hanging out. (We did this a day after Christmas one year when everyone had a ton of leftover holiday food to share!)
- Invite all the ladies over for a brown bag wine party. Each lady brings her favorite wine in a brown bag. Everyone tries a little of each in a “blind” taste test and decided on their favorites.
- Host a meal prep-night with each lady bringing one meal prep meal to share with each guest. For example, one person brings prepared breakfast burritos while another brings prepared lunches of grilled chicken and veggies and another lady brings prepared cucumber salads.
- Have a monthly Bunco night. (One thing I will caution about Bunco is that you MUST have the required number of Bunco players each month or the game cannot happen. You can try to plan to have “subs” to fill in or do a ghost spot for someone who is absent. But my Bunco group eventually gave up on Bunco years ago and opted for a “supper club” type of thing instead because it became too tricky to rely on the required people each month. Even the subs became hard to secure. If you go the Bunco route, make sure you have enough committed players!)
- Have a Bingo night! You can decorate with fun Bingo letter boards for an extra touch at ladies night in!
- Host a food swap where every guest brings a dish to serve plus a smaller container of the same dish for everyone to take home. Meal prep plus socializing all in one!
- Make plans to work on something as a collective group that will benefit the community (making head scarves for the local cancer ward, treat bags for a nursing home, signs for nursing home residents doors, knitting baby blankets for newborn foster children, etc.)
- Make seasonal decorations during a particular holiday or season. Either every guest takes home a decoration or the group can gift the decorations to a local group home, nursing home, or shelter.
- Organize a color food party. Everyone brings something of an assigned color. You can either do all the same color or assign different colors for a particular theme! It’s fun to see how creative everyone gets!
Tips for Planning Ladies Night In with a Group
Pick One Specific Night a Month to Meet
It’s best to pick one routine night each month or bi-weekly. Otherwise, it is very likely there will be more talking about doing it than actually doing it. You know how we tend to talk about how we need to get together, yet much of the time we don’t actually make it happen! Selecting a certain day on the calendar monthly ensures the ladies night out will happen monthly – even if sometimes one or two people have to miss due to other obligations.
Don’t Guilt Trip Friends Who Can’t Make It to Ladies Night In
There will be friends who can’t make it to some of the ladies night in adventures. In fact, there will be some who barely ever make it. And there will be other friends who may never make it out once. Don’t take it personally. This is just how some people roll.
As I’ve seen over the years, it’s best to just be happy with who shows up and let your other friends know you missed them with no guilt trips involved.
Suggest that Ladies Night Rotates to a Different House Each Month
One person doesn’t need to be bogged down or burned out by being the hostess every single time. You might suggest that ladies night rotates each turn to a different person’s home. This way each person gets to put her own touch on hosting her friends, and it changes up the scene each time for the group. Also, no one gets burned out with hosting too often.
