As someone who cherishes gardening and holidays, I am in love with our garden seed Valentine’s cards for gardeners! It’s a creative spin on traditional Valentine’s, where instead of giving cut flowers that wilt, we offer the prospect of a blooming vegetable garden. You will love our clever Valentine’s Day phrases on these adorable Valentine’s garden packets. It’s an opportunity to tailor a personal gift that keeps giving – sprouting some love, if you will! We love to gift these free printable Valentine cards to neighbors with gardens and to our grandparents – all whom grown vegetable gardens in their backyards. They make the perfect Valentine’s gifts for gardeners!
What Are Garden Seed Valentine’s Cards?
Garden Seed Valentines are small packets of gardening seeds, combined with cute Valentine sayings. I love the idea of gifting these sweet Valentine cards to my friends and coworkers. They are thoughtful, but not overly romantic with the cheesy vegetable Valentine’s puns.
Plus, they are the Valentine gift that keeps on giving! What’s not to love about that?
Our Vegetable Garden Valentine Puns
- I really leek you
- You are a cute cumber
- Nothing beets our friendship
- I love you from my head tomatoes
- Lettuce be Valentines
- Peas be mine
Preparing Garden Seed Valentine’s Cards
To create your own garden seed Valentine’s cards:
- Print out our garden seed PDF onto sturdy white cardstock.
- At the store, purchase two of each type of corresponding vegetable seed packets (cucumber, beets, green peas, lettuce, tomatoes, leeks).
- Cut each Valentine’s garden card out carefully with scissors
- Using glue or double-sided tape, turn each cut out into garden seed Valentine packets. (Seal each side carefully so the seeds do not fall out.)
- Add the corresponding vegetable seeds to each packet.
Selecting Seeds
Choosing the right seeds is important. Since these garden seeds as gifts, I didn’t want to select any super difficult vegetables for gardening. I hope that my recipients will actually choose to use the seeds in a spring or summer garden – either in containers or in a raised garden. I chose vegetables that are relatively easy to grow.
Again, the seeds that are needed for this gardening Valentine idea are:
- Beets
- Cucumbers
- Lettuce
- Tomatoes
- Green peas
- Leeks
At the time of this writing, garden seed packets cost $2-$2.50 each at my local Walmart so this vegetable garden Valentine card idea cost me around $28 because I am using all 12 of my garden seed Valentine packets.
It is possible you can find a better deal than that. We got our vegetable seed packets at Walmart, and I didn’t shop around for any better deals. Also, organic seeds often cost more than non-organic.
Tips for Printing Free Garden Valentine Cards and Preparing Them
- You will probably want to use a color printer thought it is possible to print them in black and white or grayscale. Get the FREE GARDEN SEED VALENTINE’S CARDS.
- There will be two of each vegetable Valentine card so you will have a total of 12 garden Valentine’s. If you don’t need that many, or if you want to only print cards for specific vegetables, simply do click the custom-print settings and print only the vegetable cards you need. If you only want to print the tomatoes Valentine cards for example, you can set your print settings to only print that page.
- If desired, you can fold the original vegetable seed packets up and put them inside of your garden Valentine cards. This way, the recipient can see the exact variant of seed, instructions, and brand you are gifting. I prefer to do this. This will also help in the event the glue or tape comes undone – so that seeds don’t fall out everywhere.
- Give yourself some time to put your Valentine garden cards together. It takes me about 30 minutes to print, cut, glue, and insert the seed packets.
I hope your friends love these garden Valentine cards!
