It’s the most magical time of the year – for some folks, anyway! It’s football party season! Notice I didn’t say football season. Obviously, it’s both. But I’m a party planning girl so the football themed party focus is where it’s at for me! These ideas can be used at a football themed birthday party, collegiate game day party at home, Super Bowl party, NFL party, your kid’s end of season football team party, etc. Read on to find the best football party ideas to keep you game day ready!

Football party season is a holiday season in itself! There are so many cute ways to decorate for tailgating, home game day parties, and just for celebrating game day in general! As I’ve mentioned on here before, I’m only a little bit sportsy and that is only because of the food, the decorations, and the party planning! I figure if I can’t beat ’em (meaning the Hubs and his friends), I can at least join them party style!

Festive Football Party Decorations

When you are setting up game day decorations for a home party, be sure to go as festive as you can! After all, football season IS a holiday season to many!

Football banners, balloons, melamine football trays often found at Target or Hobby Lobby, and football tablecloths or football field table runners (like the DIY one you see below) really give the big idea as to what the football themed party is all about!

Fun Football Party Games

It doesn’t matter if you are tailgating at the stadium or hosting a game day party at home. You will want to provide some fun football party games to the kids and to the adults. I think it is realistic to expect that some people may not not wish to play the games, and that is perfectly fine. Some people are in the zone when watching their sportsball and don’t wish to take time for other things.

If there will be younger children at your party that can’t hang with the printable games, I would be sure to have an area of entertainment just for them. Otherwise, your game watching will be interrupted a gazillion times. Basic things like Legos and coloring stations will help keep little ones busy!

Football Themed Party Snacks

I think we can all agree food is a huge piece of what makes a party! You can go as low-key as you want with pre-purchased snacks like popcorn, candy bars, etc. Or you can throw down in the kitchen and bring out some crafted football party snacks! Basic cheese dips and tortilla chips are a clear staple at most game day events I have attended.

What you choose to serve is totally up to you. I think it is important to know your audience when selecting snacks and dishes.
