If you’ve been around this site long enough, you might know that I’m not naturally a football fan by heart. However, growing up in the south, raised by a football-loving dad, and married into a football-loving family, I can’t help but get into the football craziness sometimes!

Making White Chocolate Football Goal Posts
The first thing we like to do is go ahead and make the white chocolate football goal posts. It’s best to let these set while you are getting the other parts of the football cupcakes together.
It’s pretty simple to draw out the goal posts with an icing bag. But, just to make it even easier, we have included a handy dandy printable football goal posts PDF for you to use.
Once you have melted the white chocolate chips, fill an icing bag. Set your printable PDF on a baking tray. Place a piece of parchment paper over – provided that you can see through it – and pipe away!
Allow the white chocolate to set for 10-15 minutes before lifting or moving.
Prepare the Cupcake Batter
You will make the cupcakes by simply following directions on the cake mix package.
Bake the cupcakes according to the instructions on the cake mix box.
This is probably the most simple of the steps for most of us!
Decorating Football Field Cupcakes for Game Day
This is the fun part! We make the buttercream icing and split it into half. We leave one half white and add a bit of green food coloring to the second half. Once both icing batches are ready, we add them to two icing bags.
The green icing bag needs a tip that will allow the icing to look like grass. The white icing bag can use any type of tip since you will be covering the white side with sprinkles anyway.
Tips for Perfect Football Cupcakes
- If you don’t have a grass decorating tip, you can use a star tip or a large round tip for a similar look.
- To make the cupcakes ahead of time, frost them without the goal posts and store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator. I don’t recommend you keep them more than a few days in the fridge. When you’re ready to serve, add the goal posts and enjoy!
These football field cupcakes are the perfect way to celebrate your team’s big win! They’re also a great option for birthday parties or any other occasion. So gather your supplies and get baking!
