It’s that time of year again! Fall and football season – a cause for celebration in our home for my husband and me. One of us is itching for pumpkins and candles and the other one is itching for football replays and cheese dip. After being perplexed the last few years on how to incorporate football decorations for home into our early autumn home decor scheme, I finally came up with a way to add a few touches of fall and football decor to the porch and to the interior of our home. I hope our fall football home can inspire yours this season!
Blending Multiple Seasons into a Fall Football Decor Scheme
One of the biggest issues with fall is so many of America’s favorite seasons are meshed into one! On the one hand, we have football season which starts the first weekend of September. Soon after is pumpkin season in later September. (At least around here in Arkansas, it is hard to find fresh pumpkins until middle of September.)
In October, comes Halloween. Some of us love to go all out for Halloween. Others choose to skip over it. In November, comes Thanksgiving bringing in the fall caboose. Of course, some people choose to skip past Thanksgiving decor and put up Christmas decor in November.
Again, we are dealing with multiple American favorites rolled into a few fast-blaring months! Sometimes, it’s hard to come up with a fall decor game plan!
Fall Football Porch
Last year, after we added on our concrete patio to our back porch, I had more space to decorate on the outside of the home. I went with a low-key fall football porch, adding in a fun fall football doormat, mums, and a few pumpkins.
Of course, we had to toss in a few metal Arkansas Razorbacks, as well! (Woo Pig Sooie!)
This year, I am using the same decor scheme on the back patio.
Fall and Football Mantle
As for the interior of the home, I wanted a few reminders of football season mixed in with the traditional fall decor.
A few simple football picks from Hobby Lobby made for fun touches to the fall floral arrangements on the mantle. The blue eucalyptus wreath and the pumpkin garland are also from Hobby Lobby. The last year or so, I have left up my huge tobacco basket (originally from Nadeau) and I’ve added a seasonal wreath or wall hanging to that. It’s made for an easy way to change out my mantle decor without having to overthink things.
Fall Football Decor Touches in the Dining Room
I’m going a more simple route with my early fall dining room decor this year. In early August, I moved my bamboo plants to the glass vases on the table. They have been happy as can be there so I’ve decided to leave them there this fall and just decorate around them with a few velvet pumpkins.
On the wall, I have my round letter board from Pretties and Grace with a fun Punts and Pumpkins quote. If you know me, you know I love coming up with fun letter board quotes (see my huge letter board quote series linked below). This fall and football quote combo is such a fun way to tie all the footballs and pumpkins together!
