There is something good and fresh about a new year brewing. There are 365 new opportunities for doing good things. I believe in the power of looking forward with a good mindset and some well-written plans. Of course, plans can be started at any time of the year – not only on January 1st.
This year, I am planning to be more intentional with making plans. In the last couple years, I’ve become more serious with keeping my planners and organizers updated. As a mom, a teacher, and a blogger, it is essential to stay organized.
Drinking Coffee and Doing Good Things
One new thing I want to start doing this year is sitting down with my morning coffee and my planner on a daily basis to refresh myself of my goals and plans. In the past, I did this occasionally but not on a consistent basis. The new thing will be attempting to sit with my planner on a daily basis.
To start, I’m sitting with my cup of coffee to brainstorm all kinds of good things for the year.
Speaking of coffee, my new go-to coffee is the Green Mountain Coffee Roasters®, available at Walmart. This coffee works perfectly with my single serve coffee pot, also from Walmart. At Walmart, the section of Green Mountain Coffee Roasters is easily found in the coffee aisle.
So far, I have tried two different versions of the coffee – Nantucket Blend and Dark Magic. To me, the two varieties have notably different tastes yet are all smooth and robust. Soon, I’m planning to try the Hazelnut and the Caramel Vanilla Cream.
In total, there are over 30 coffee varieties, with the coffee beans coming from all over the world. – like Indonesia, Sumatra, Nicaragua, Honduras, Peru, Rwanda, Uganda, and many more areas. Check out your local Walmart for a nice selection of flavors. Aside from exploring the Walmart coffee aisle in person, you can order Green Mountain Coffee Roasters coffee at Walmart.com or through online grocery pickup.
If you know me at all, you know I’m into all things global. I love to support farmers and artisans from all over the world. With the many ways Green Mountain Coffee Roasters gives to the coffee community, it is a product I can feel good about purchasing. Green Mountain Coffee Roasters is on a do good path of its own. From helping farmers with loan programs, providing greater access to clean water in coffee farming communities worldwide, and providing seedlings for new trees for coffee farms, this is a coffee company out there doing good.
It’s only fitting that while I’m working on my doing good plans, I’m drinking coffee from a global company that also seeks to do good in the world.
Do Good Each Month
One planning goal for this year is to plan ways my family can complete a do good project at least once each month. While my family tends to get involved with community efforts during certain times of the year, there are other stretches of the year that we may not participate as much. For instance, during the holidays, community projects find us. But other times of the year, we may need to get creative to find them. To help with this, I created a handy dandy printable with a month-to-month guide to brainstorm community service plans. Sitting down with my do good planner, I have already pounded out a few community service ideas for this year. A few of the ideas are repeats.
For example, another group of friends and myself have decorated the lobby and dining areas of our local hospice house for Christmas the last couple years. This is something that I would like to continue in the future. Also, my family and I make blessing bags several times a year to pass out to unsheltered residents in our area. Once a month, we help with a church meal for the unsheltered. Additionally, we regularly contribute to our church food pantry. These are all no-brainers for my list for the new year.
For now, I am brainstorming ideas and assigning them to different months. As the months draw closer, I can narrow down to the ones we wish to do. Some of these ideas might be fun to do with my family, my coworkers, or my various friend groups.

These are all great ideas. I see some that I already do, but you definitely got my thoughts flowing on new ones to incorporate. #client
