If you have never made homemade waffles, you are really missing out! These easy cinnamon waffles are so straight forward to make and even easier to eat. Make a big batch with this cinnamon waffle recipe and freeze some for later! Also, you can add pecans and make them into cinnamon pecan waffles!
Ideally, I make these waffles with chopped pecans. Unfortunately, on the morning I whipped up this cinnamon waffle recipe, I was shocked to discover we didn’t have any chopped pecans. We ALWAYS have chopped pecans!
Therefore, my cinnamon waffles pictured here do not have the pecans, but I highly recommend them! Cinnamon pecan waffles are about as tasty as it gets! It was such a beautiful morning with perfect food photography lighting. So I went ahead and made my cinnamon waffle recipe without my beloved pecans, taking photos as I went.
I use a Cuisinart belgian waffle maker. We really like the model we have, but it does tend to overcook the bottoms of the waffles after a few rounds. If you aren’t overly familiar with your waffle maker, I suggest checking the waffles periodically and not just relying on the timer. I find my waffles are often ready to remove from the machine about a minute or so before the timer goes off.
Also, some people may prefer to fill their grids more than I do. I have learned the hard way in the past about overfilling the grids. Now, I prefer to fill them a little less to avoid a mess.
To keep the waffles warm while I cook a large batch, I like to place these cooked cinnamon brown sugar waffles on a baking sheet in an oven at 300 while the rest of the waffles cook. They are not in there long enough to dry out, and they stay nice and warm for the syrup and butter you will drizzle on later.
Garnishing Cinnamon Waffles
Cinnamon waffles are perfect with your typical waffle garnishes of butter, syrup and a dusting of powdered sugar. But they also pair well with fruit such as fresh blueberries or strawberries. Also, a scoop of pan-fried apples is delicious with this cinnamon waffle recipe! The waffles are made with brown sugar which gives them a touch of sweetness without being too sweet. Personally, I like my waffles to have that hint of sweetness, but I don’t like them overly sweet. These cinnamon brown sugar waffles fit the bill!
Truly, this easy waffle recipe makes an impressive (and yummy!) statement! If you are preparing breakfast for guests or a special occasion, you can’t go wrong with this cinnamon waffle recipe.

Equipment
- waffle maker
Ingredients
- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 4 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 1/2 tbsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 3 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 1/2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 eggs beaten
- 1 cup chopped pecans optional
Instructions
- In mixing bowl, combine all dry ingredients (except for pecans).
- Add all wet ingredients to bowl.
- Mix until smooth and well-blended.
- If using pecans, add them and mix again for 20-30 seconds.
- Preheat waffle maker.
- Once waffle maker is adequately heated, add batter to each grid. (You can use a measuring cup to do this, filling most of the way. Do not overfill the grids as batter may run over the edges.)
- As you remove each group of cooked waffles from the machine, you may place them on a baking pan in a 300 degree oven while the rest of the waffles cook. This will keep them warm.
- Garnish with syrup, butter, powdered sugar, or fresh fruit.
