Old Fashioned Christmas Sugar Cookies with Sprinkles Recipe
One Christmas time years ago, I went on the hunt for an old fashioned Christmas sugar cookies recipe. I found this winner in an old church cookbook and have never looked back.
If you want traditional red and green sprinkle cookies, these are perfect for that! These days, you can find all kinds of fun Christmas cookie sprinkles in the stores. My favorite Christmas cookie sprinkles are the bottles of red and green sugar crystals mixed together. Of course, if you can’t find that type, you can always layer both colors together on top of the cookies if you like the mixed colors look (as in the photo above).
Working with the Dough
Of course, this process goes faster if you have some elves to help you roll and cut out the dough.
My elves are always ready to help with the making and the tasting!
This no chill sugar cookie dough is a snap to mix up – especially if you are using a sturdy mixer.
On a floured surface, we try to roll the dough to a thickness of about 1/3 of an inch or so. The cookie cutters should glide in and out of the dough very easily.
A batch of this Christmas tree sugar cookies dough yields around 36 rolled Christmas sugar cookies.

Over the years, I have stocked cookie cutters for all types of seasons, holidays, and events. These sugar sprinkles cookies can truly be made for any occasion.
Seasonally, you can usually find Christmas tree cookie cutters at Walmart, Kroger, Target, and even the dollar stores. We have some plastic ones and some metal ones. On Amazon, you can find similar cutters as mine. This Christmas tree cookie cutter trio offers different sizes and tree shapes.
