If you needed one more reason to look into buying Christmas plants for gifts, then you’ve lucked out! I’m going to give you two reasons!
Use Christmas Plant for Gifts AND Decoration in Your Own Home (Before the Holidays)
Use your adorable Christmas flowers and plants on your own table as your Christmas table decor! Do it! You won’t regret a second of the beauty they will bring to your space. Just check out some of my posts – like plants on the Christmas table and black and white Christmas decor – for more some inspirations for Christmas decor and Christmas plant gifts. Also, for some splashes of color, you might want to check my boho Christmas decor and pom pom Christmas tour!
I think poinsettia’s are one of the most beautiful red leaf plant out there.
On this table, there are eleven plants. That means there are potentially eleven gifts. Eight of those gifts are these cactus and succulent plants in these precious Santa pots! They make the perfect place marks at each place setting.
Give the Christmas Plants for Gifts as Christmas Approaches
Those 11 Christmas plants that you saw on the table above? They became 11 Christmas plant gifts – gifts for teachers and neighbors and hostess gift plants. Well, maybe 9 or 10 gifts. It’s so hard to let go of them all!
Just be mindful of who you are gifting a Christmas plant gift to as some people may not have any care or appreciation for plants. Personally, I wouldn’t gift sweet little plants as Christmas gifts to someone I feared wouldn’t attempt to care for it. I choose plants as Christmas gifts for plant lovers or at least for people I think might be open to caring for their first plant.
Nothing really says Christmas quite like a poinsettia gift! But how cute are those little succulents in the Santa pots? Surely, many of your guests will appreciate a succulent Christmas gift. In years past, I have gifted my Christmas party guests succulent Christmas gifts as they left.
Where to Buy Christmas Plants for Gifts?
I buy the majority of my Christmas gift plants at my local Lowe’s. Lowe’s often has a great selection of plants year-round, including lots of seasonal plants for the various holidays. Home Depot and local nurseries also have a decent supply.

Use Plain Christmas Plant Pots or Christmas Plant Baskets When Giving Christmas Plants for Gifts
Personally, I prefer to keep the Christmas plant pots or the Christmas plant baskets simple so the plant itself can really shine. This also means that after Christmas your or the plant receiver can switch out plant pots more easily if they are not in a distinct Christmas theme. I love to switch out pots and baskets for my plants – almost as much as I like switching out my own outfits!
Look at this amazing pothos I won in a Secret Santa game last Christmas! I still have this beauty today in the same basket since it is a nice, plain basket. Sometimes, I dress the basket up with tassles or fun ties.
Choosing Christmas plants for gifts is so much fun! Remember, to buy an extra one for yourself! And if you just can’t get enough plant fun, check out my other plant posts: funny plant quotes and plants for a dark room!
