If you work in a school or attend a school, you know dress up days are a thing. They are a scramble around the night before and be dang sure you have an outfit kind of thing. In the month of December, you can almost rest assured there will be some Christmas dress up days for school or Christmas dress up days for work! And if not at school or work, you may very well be asked to dress festive at an outside of work Christmas party.

To help you stay in the December style spirit, I’ve whipped up a couple of printable calendars for Christmas dress up days for school or work. However, not all Christmas theme dress up days appeal to all people/groups/worksites. So I also made a few blank calendars in the event you wish to just fill in your daily Christmas outfit themes. Planning Christmas Theme Dress Up Days for Work and School
Holiday dress up days can be fun, but they can also be stressful to some during an already hectic month. I would not plan Christmas dress up days that require most people to have to purchase something. The best Christmas spirit days are the ones where people can put the outfits together mostly with things they already have.
This is especially true with students. If you are planning on getting the students of your school involved in dress up days, keep in mind that many students will not have the means to add items to their wardrobe simply to participate in a school dress up day.
And, as a mom, my girls’ school dress up days often stress me out. They often involve us having to run out and find something. Many parents do not have the means – whether it is money or time – to do this.
Keep Christmas dress up days for school simple for your students!
And keep the Christmas theme dress up days for work simple for your work staff or coworkers! You know their sanity will already be on the brink in the month of December anyway!
Adding Accessories to Your Collection
After getting frazzled this year and running around town to four or five stores on a Sunday evening in search of accessories for the next few days, I learned that it would behoove me to just keep a big Christmas accessories box full of basic festive holiday gear for the girls and for me. When I say basics, I am talking about things like reindeer antlers, Santa hats, blinking light bulb necklaces, etc.
A great time to get these things is right after Christmas when there are after Christmas sales. Some places which tend to carry the Christmas novelty accessories include Hobby Lobby, Dollar General, Dollar Tree, Walgreens, Walmart, Target, etc. This year, my local stores were wiped out of these things weeks before Christmas. Therefore, there is nothing left to scavenge for after Christmas this year. To Amazon I went to find some things to add to our collection for next year. I really don’t think the holiday dress up days trend is going away any time soon!
Here are some of my favorite finds on Amazon this year! If you are looking for festive gear for yourself or for your family members, check out these fun products!
Fun Christmas Dress Up Accessories for Women
Light Up Hair Lights – How fun are these!? I regret I didn’t know about them this past Christmas!
Big Variety Pack of Christmas Headbands – I like this big pack because it has a variety of headbands my daughters and I can share. There are multiple reindeer antler headbands, Santa headbands, and Christmas tree headbands – so even if all three of us have the same Christmas spirit day theme, we are all three covered! The headbands are a bit softer and not just the basic plastic band like the ones you get at the dollar store. They are sized so that they can fit the girls heads and mine. This year, I ran frazzled around town looking for reindeer antlers with no luck. I finally remembered I had this blow up reindeer ring toss game and used the antlers as you see in the picture from above.
Christmas Elf Apron – I like this elf apron because it is basically a two-for-one. You can wear it for Christmas baking day and again for spirit days at school! Elf costumes or dresses can get pricey. At least, this apron serves two purposes.
Flexible Wired Elf Hat – This hat is perfect because it is wired and can be shaped and styled as you prefer. Attention grabber, for sure!
Santa Cowboy Hat – How cute this Santa cowboy hat would be for one of the Western Christmas themes listed above! Just not that most of the cowboy hats I have explored, including this one, appear to run large.
Snowman Costume Kit – Add these snowman costume accessories to a white shirt and pants for snowman dress up day!
Multi-Pack of Christmas Earrings – One of the things I get the most compliments on during the holidays lately is my growing Christmas earring collection! I love multipacks like this so I can change the look up daily.
Antler Scarf and Gloves Combo – This plush scarf set dons red antlers and matching gloves. Warmth and cuteness combined!
Knee-High Socks and Arm Warmers (8 Piece) – This set includes four sets of knee socks and four sets of arm warmers – in Christmas colors! There are so many opportunities for styling these into holiday dress up days!
Fun Holiday Dress Up Days Accessories for Men
Beard Lights – These light up beard lights might just make you the star of the party! They come in packs of 16 or 12.
LED Elf Hat and Blinking Necklace Combo – This is a combo pack with an LED Elf hat and a blinking necklace of bulbs. This would be great for many of the themed days listed above!
Reindeer Baseball Cap – This hat would be great for men who love baseball hats but are also wanting to dip their toes into the festive themes.
Christmas Lights Baseball Cap – Another fun baseball cap style option is this Christmas lights baseball cap. It is perfect for any of the days mentioning bulbs or bright colors.
“Your Sweater is Ugly” Baseball Cap – Okay. I’m out of control with the baseball cap suggestions. But…aren’t these all just so fun?! This brand, Tipsy Elves, even carries a buffalo plaid version.
Two Pack Hat Set of Elf Pants and Santa Pants – This two-pack set of upside down Santa pants and Elf pants could be used by men, women, or older kids. There is some discussion of the hats falling off but bobby pins or a small snip in the elastic band should help.
Gingerbread Man Apron – Perfect for being festive in the kitchen and for Christmas theme days for work or school.
Grinch T-Shirt – I like the simplicity of this Grinch shirt. It is straight-forward and perfect for any day with a Grinch theme – for men, women, or kids.
Reindeer Necktie – If you need to dress nicely, you could substitute your normal necktie for a festive one! You might prefer this snowflake necktie option instead. Also, this plaid necktie is a bit less in your face and would keep you covered for plaid, reindeer, or tree day themes! For a classy plaid necktie option with no other pattern, this Christmas plaid necktie is beautiful.
Festive Christmas Blazer for Men – My husband LOVES his Christmas blazer with llamas (alpacas?). I found it at TJMaxx this past season. (Did you know that TJMaxx has online shopping available on the website now? News to me!) I have searched the interwebs and cannot find the same jacket my husband has. I think a blazer makes more of a “look at me” statement than a sweater or a shirt.
Christmas Accessories for Kids’ Christmas Dress Up Days for School
Christmas Hat – This hat would be adorable for a tree themed day or head accessories day. However, the reviews indicate the Christmas hat is better suited to fit young kids rather than adults or older kids.
Reindeer Hair Barrettes – There isn’t much sweeter than a little girl at Christmas with a sweet festive hair accessory in her hair!
Rudolph Mask and Hood in One – This head wrap is adorable with its hood and face mask. It would be perfect for reindeer or character Christmas dress up days for school!
Girls’ Gingerbread Apron (With Bonus Matching Doll Outfit) – This gingerbread apron says it is for boys and girls. I picture it being used more for girls with its matching doll outfit (perfect for an 18 inch doll like an American Girl doll, My Generation doll, etc.)
Grinch Hat – This hat is great for older kids and adults. It would also be fun to wear for Dr. Seuss Day if your school hosts a day like that.

For those who want to go beyond the 12 days of Christmas dress up days, you might wish to use this blank calendar which you can number for all 31 days of December. Simply add in your Christmas dress up outfits for each day. I suggest starting with basic pieces you own – for example, a Holly Jolly sweatshirt – and fill it in multiple spots. Go from there until you have all the days filled in. This calendar is very similar to my printable wardrobe planner for everyday use.
