I’m sharing our caramel apple float in hopes that it floats us a little closer into fall. (Why, yes, I do love a good cheesy pun.) Seriously, it’s still 90-something degrees in Arkansas. But that doesn’t stop me from getting a head start into all things fall. This caramel apple ice cream float is the perfect treat to transition from the refreshing ice cream drinks of summer into the caramel apple treats that signal fall!
If You Love Caramel Apples, You Will Love This Caramel Apple Ice Cream Float
If you love caramel apples, this caramel apple float is going to float your boat (hehee…I’m just full of them today!).
I’ve always wondered why there is no apple ice cream. And maybe there is some apple ice cream out there in the universe, and I just don’t know about it. But in my neck of the woods, I’ve never seen any. So the idea behind this apple inspired ice cream drink came from seeing some apple soda at the store. My mind started turning.
Where to Find Apple Soda
We find the apple soda at Walmart. It’s the Great Value brand. No doubt, it adds great fizz to these apple floats.
I believe Kroger and Amazon also carry various brands of apple soda. Of course, many other decent sized grocery stores may also carry them.
Soda First or Ice Cream First?
Of course, there are several teams for floats. Some think you add the ice cream first. Others think you add the soda first. To me, the best part of an ice cream float is the fizzy top. Therefore, I believe the way to get that fizzy top is to add the ice cream first and the soda last.
Nuts or No Nuts on Your Caramel Apple Float?
I suppose there are several camps for caramel apples, too, as far as nuts are concerned. I love caramel apples with peanuts so I cannot leave my float lacking of some chopped peanuts as garnish.
In fact, when I go into a gourmet caramel apple shop, I’m often shocked at how many varieties don’t have nuts on them. Nuts make a caramel apple, folks!
But we live in a free country so I guess if you don’t care for nuts, you can leave them off. I’ll pick my battles.
