Well, another fall family portrait session has come and gone! I enjoyed putting these burgundy and blue outfits together for our family photo shoot.
As always, our photos were taken by the fabulous Lori from Lori Sparkman Photography. She has taken our photos for the last 10 years! That’s so crazy!

I absolutely love little girl in fall maxi dresses (or any seasonal maxi dresses). Little One’s fall floral maxi dress was the first piece I chose for our fall photo session.
Next, came a very similar fall floral high-low shorts romper for Scooter Britches. I like that the florals are very similar with a similar burgundy and blue color combination. Yet, the florals are not the exact same.
I love how my sweet girls’ personalities shine in these pictures. This next image captures their true selves – always giggling and acting silly.
Next, I pulled the Hubs’ outfit together. Recently, I purchased a burgundy vest for him. This vest easily paired with a burgundy and blue plaid button up shirt he owns and his navy slacks.
My outfit was the last one to come together. I actually spent a good while in Alter’D State the week before, agonizing over some super cute choices with a very helpful sales girl, only to completely go a different direction an hour before our photo shoot. And an hour before our shoot, I decided to grab things from my closet – this $7 clearance pleated midi skirt from TJ Maxx with a white tank and my years-old denim jacket from my closet. Paired with some old perforated tan booties, the outfit came together well, I felt.
About the skirt…it’s probably not everyone’s cup of tea. Knife-pleated skirts have made a come-back and might fall into a “trending” spirit at the moment. But that’s not why I grabbed the skirt off the clearance shelf. It was the vibrant burgundy color (more purpl-y than brown-based) that got me, as well as the airy breezy feel of the fabric. The little drawstrings on either side of the waist (which you probably can’t see because of my jean jacket) are also a fun touch. I like the unexpected vibe of the skirt.
I love the down-played pleated skirt look this year!
The hats made the outfits, wouldn’t you say? At the last moment, I decided we had to have wool or felt fall hats. Thank you, Amazon!
But, seriously.
These girls. These hats. Oh, my gosh. Obsessed! That burgundy and navy blue look so good together!
