Posting about our family trips to Branson Landing has been on my to-do list for a while now. Read on if you are considering exploring Branson Landing with kids or just on your own.
When I was a kid, my parents and I visited Branson several times. It was always a bustling place, but the vibe was geared more for the…ahem… mature crowd.
In the last years that I have been to Branson, the subpopulations have merged, making Branson a relaxing vacation spot for anyone. I find it one of my favorite places for family travel.
Staying at the Branson Landing with Kids
We enjoy staying at the newish Branson Landing with kids because of the mecca of shops, restaurants, nighttime entertainment, and people watching. We have stayed at both Branson Landing hotels and have enjoyed all of our stays.
There are two Hiltons that anchor Branson Landing, and we have stayed at both. This trip marked the second time to stay at Branson Landing Hilton Promenade. We really enjoy this hotel.
The hotel elevators open downstairs and feed right out into the Landing. You can eat, shop, and have all kinds of fun without ever having to get into your car. Also, you can walk the opposite direction and find yourself in old downtown Branson with lots of flea markets and cafes with homemade pies and home style food.
Our rooms have always been immaculate and spacious enough. The lobby is grand but inviting.
And there is an indoor pool. Hallelujah! This mama hates battling the kiddos on sunscreen.
There are campgrounds nearby for families to camp and enjoy the lakeside immenities of this area. You can also rent cabins on Lake Taneycomo which would put give you a bit of luxury while still enjoying the natural beauty of the area. Additionally, there are some resorts on Lake Taneycomo, not far from Branson Landing, such as Liley’s Landing which offers single units and fourplex options for lodging. There is also Blue Haven Resort, located just minutes from Branson Landing.
If you have an outdoorsy family and are planning a trip to Branson Landing with kids, cabins on Lake Taneycomo or resorts on Lake Taneycomo are options to keep in mind.
Things to Do with Kids at Branson Landing
There are things to appeal to the youngest of visitors, such as a train ride down the main strip and a Build-a-Bear store. The train rides are fun to occupy children with as you venture into the Branson Landing stores. On this trip, we took a train ride, and Scooter Britches was so excited to sit with the train conductor. There is a cash fee to ride the little train. However, one of the conductors mentioned that if we bought our ticket early enough in the day, we could ride on the train throughout the day.
In the evenings, there is music and a fire and water show right on the Lake Taneycomo which runs behind the Branson Landing. I love sitting out after dinner and watching the water show while listening to synchronized music.
You can read in my Places to Eat in Branson Landing post to see which Branson Landing food places I recommend for watching the Branson Landing fountain show. The fountains are amazing, and the synchronized music changes at different times of the year. One of these years, my family will visit at Christmas time. I just know the Branson Landing water show is amazing with the Christmas music!
Once you finish watching the Branson Landing light show, it’s nice to just stroll along the river and watch people zip line across the lake, gliding into a landing area near the walkway. Kids under 42 inches are not allowed to ride the Branson Landing zipline. They must be 47 inches or taller to ride the zip line alone.
Adult tickets are around $25, at the time of this writing, for the Branson Landing zip line.
Trout Fishing on Lake Taneycomo
Lake Taneycomo is known as an incredibly popular fishing lake. In particular, trout fishing is quite popular. For guided trout fishing, check out OutCasting Adventures. You can book a guided tour out on Lake Taneycomo or on nearby Table Rock Lake for trout fishing.
Also, special outings can be arranged with owner, Jeremy, for panfish, bass, and catfish.
Trout fishing on Lake Taneycomo is a perfect activity for couples or for families with children.
Fishing at Table Rock Lake
You may want to explore trout fishing on Lake Taneycomo and also do some bass fishing on Table Rock Lake on a different day. You can be fishing at Table Rock Lake with just a short drive from your lodging at Branson Landing.
My husband has enjoyed guided fishing at Table Rock Lake with Jeremy for largemouth bass, small mouth bass, and crappie.
More Water Fun at Branson Landing
If dinner cruises are more your speed, you could take a spin on the Landing Princess. We have not gone on the Branson dinner cruise yet because I feel it is a little pricey to take a family of four – particularly when the little ones are too young to appreciate the fun of a dinner cruise. As my girls get a bit older, I hope we can take advantage of this experience. There is also another Branson dinner cruise on Table Rock Lake.
One adventure we did partake it (and will do again!) is the boating fun at Branson Jetboats. Oh, my goodness! What a fun time we had! From the little ones (two-years-old and four-year-olds) to the oldest ones (my mom…age intentionally not included because…well, you know), we had a great time – giggling and squealing with every thrilling turn the boat took on Lake Taneycomo. The ride was exciting enough to keep us on our toes, but tame enough that even our three-year-old had a good time and was not scared. Of course, I was the only mom on the boat who insisted on life jackets…but, hey,
The Branson Jetboats ticket office is right in the Branson Landing. Be sure to check ahead of time for boat departure times and ticket prices. Currently, ticket prices run $29 per adult and $24 per child, ages 3-11. Children under three are free.
Additionally, you can explore Branson boat rentals on Lake Taneycomo if you would like to rent a pontoon boat or a fishing boat for the day while staying at or near Branson Landing.
Other Fun Activities
During my last visit, a huge arcade with a mirror maize and a 7D Dark Ride Adventure was under construction. On this past visit, these two attractions appeared to be popular spots for families. Your family would surely enjoy the fun at Andy B’s which is a boutique bowling eatery.
Aside from the zip lining adventures in the Branson Landing, Parakeet Peet also offers the steampunk balloon – like a hot air balloon but more controlled. I have the steampunk balloon set for our next Branson Landing adventure. Kids 42 inches and smaller ride free. Adult tickets are around $12 each at the time of this post.
For most days during the spring, summer, and fall, Branson Landing hours run 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. However, there are different hours for Sundays, holidays, and select winter weeks. When planning a trip to Branson Landing with kids, visit the Branson Landing website for a list of hours and more information for all Branson Landing shops, restaurants, and attractions.
