All is calm with thee blue Christmas decorations ideas. This past Christmas, I stepped out of my bright color comfort zone and went for dark green, hues of blue and metallics. I have the opposite problem of many people. Whereas many steer away from bright color, I usually steer away from neutrals and mono-color schemes. I’m not going to say it was my favorite Christmas theme of all time, but I enjoyed a change and am sharing these green and blue Christmas decorations ideas from our living room today for all the green and blue Christmas decor lovers out there!

Blue Christmas Decorations Ideas for Snowflake Mantel
My biggest challenge was decorating our green, blue and white Christmas decorations on the mantel. In the end, I was happy with the outcome, but getting the layering right and the fresh garland and the stockings to stay in place was a challenge at first. After several attempts, I ordered these simple mantel hooks for stockings and was surprised at how well they worked for what I needed. I’ve not a fan of the big clunky stocking hangers typically.
I was thrilled to be able to use my large flocked snowflakes I had bought at last year’s Guess and Company Christmas Warehouse. With their soft white outer layers, there was not a lot of color contrast against our gray wall. However, in person the chunky textures of the stars were marvelous against the smoothness of the wall for an understated Christmas snowflake mantel!
I really do love the look of stockings all clustered together on one side to create an asymmetrical look. Felt letters in dark green completed each ice blue stocking. I used this same shade of green in the tree, with a pillow on the sofa, and in several other vignettes around the house.
Vintage-look old bells dangling off of fresh pine garland finished off the look.
White, Blue and Gold Christmas Tree
The Christmas tree felt a little strange to me since I am so used to our big living room Christmas tree being the memory tree. Typically, our big tree is not themed and simply boasts years of memories through handmade decorations, ornaments picked up during travels, etc. This year, I decided to try something different. It was pretty. But next year I’ll go back to my memory tree and may just put a smaller themed tree in the dining room again.
My brightly colored rug did clash a bit with the white, blue and gold Christmas decor. But it certainly was not enough of a bother to me to replace it!
The tree was adorned with chunky gold garlands, thin gold garlands, blue sprays, ice blue Christmas baubles, midnight blue Christmas ornaments, and even some green ornaments to add to the depth. Some foam stars also bought at Guess Warehouse company tied into the snowflake theme on the mantle.
I love the emerald green velvet pillow covers I got last year. They added such a festive pop to the couch.
Given that I usually have to decorate super early for the sake of blogging during the holidays, I wound up itching for a change to these green and blue Christmas decorations by early December! I kept our living room with this scheme from early November through early December. But by then, I was itching for a larger color pop. Check out how I tweaked some things and turned this blue Christmas decor scheme into a blue and red Christmas decor scheme!
