If you saw my other recent holiday post, you saw I attempted a more calm color scheme last Christmas. For about a month in my home, I enjoyed the change to a gold and blue Christmas scheme. But by the second week of December, I was ready for more color. And this is the part of the story where the red enters the picture. Check out this post to see how I added in a few pops of red to evolve the color scheme into a modern blue and red Christmas decor theme.

Blue and Red Christmas Mantel
To enhance the white snowflakes nestled into the fresh pine garland and leaning on the mantel wall, I added some springs of faux red berries.
I also added a fun red reindeer with an assortment of glass Christmas trees in shades of blue.
As I mentioned in my other post, I ordered these simple mantel hooks for stockings and was surprised at how well they held my stockings. As long as you aren’t brushing up against the stockings, the hooks keep things pretty steady.
The large white snowflakes are from Guess and Company Christmas Warehouse here in Arkansas. A couple years ago, I attended a Guess and Company Christmas Warehouse event and bought so many wonderful Christmas decorations – many of which you see sprinkled through my holiday posts.
The blue plush stockings are from Home Goods while the green felt letters are from the JCPenny’s Christmas department.
Vintage-look old bells are an added touch on one side of the mantel.
A chunky red blanket adds a pop of color to the blue swivel chair. A holiday pillow and a blanket in Christmas plaids adorn the sofa.
I love the emerald green velvet pillow covers I got last year. They added such a festive pop to the couch. The boho pillow is from Target.
Red, Blue and Gold Christmas Tree
The tree was originally in shades of blues and emerald greens with touches of gold. I popped in a bit of red all over to bring some color joy! It made me happier, anyway!
It doesn’t take much red for a color pop. Just a few chunky beaded garlands, a few red ornaments and baubles, and…pop!
Since I just love all those old vintage pictures of women posed in their finest dresses in front of Christmas trees, I decided to jump into the fun myself! I wore this dress to a wedding, but it was so fun to stand for a quick picture with cocktail in hand in front of the tree!
Blue and Red Christmas Decor in the Dining Room
Of course, it was just as fun to add a bit of red to the dining room. The blue and red Christmas decor on the table came together easily thanks to my growing collection of little Christmas trees. The trees are mostly from Home Goods, Tuesday Morning, Hobby Lobby, etc. I like to mix and match them in different styles, textures, color hues, and materials. And I also wanted a simple dining room table this year – so simple that I opted for melamine plates over my typical Fiesta collection.
On the wall, I went old school simple, also. I took down the art gallery that usually displays there and used the nails to tie red string for a Christmas card wall display. I love how my little DIY Christmas card display holder reminds me of the simple things from my childhood when I walk in!
Hot Cocoa Station in the Kitchen
The primary touch of red Christmas decor in the kitchen was in the hot cocoa station. The jars are from all over the place – Tuesday Morning, Dollar General, and Home Goods. This station stayed up until after Christmas. I simply removed all the holiday references and replaced with generic things later.
The hot cocoa sign was something I bought later in the season and added in.
