Here I am with my second post in two days! Who am I? I went back-and-forth the other day on whether to post about my fall decorations for home (interiors) or our autumn decorations for the front porch. Obviously, both ideas were fit for this little bloggity blog!
Autumn decorations have always been important to me. Picture it. Arkansas, 2013. The Hubs and I started to hunt for our new home. We drove around and around our town and the neighboring areas during the autumn season. As soon as we drove into a neighborhood, if I didn’t see a heavy ratio of autumn decorations on the front porches, the neighborhood was immediately dismissed.
Hey, I know my people. If these potential neighbors couldn’t be bothered to pop a simple pumpkin on the porch, were they really my people? I think not.
Our front porch autumn decorations center around the tradition pile of pumpkins. But a few other touches bring these fall porch decorations from ho-hum to wow-zum!
Aside from buying fresh pumpkins and mums for the porch, the only thing I bought was a new door mat. Actually, the girls bought this “hey there, pumpkin” door mat for me at Kirkland’s in August when they took me birthday shopping (with Daddy’s money).
As much as I hate spending money on door mats season after season, I have to admit our doormats just can’t withstand the hot heat of the front porch. Typically, they look faded and tired after just one season thanks to the full-on killer afternoon sun our front porch receives.
This hanging flower basket is from Kirkland’s. I love filling it with seasonal berries, flowers, and greenery.
This black metal planter was a find at At Home several years ago. It goes perfectly with my boho-inspired home. I have so much fun stuffing it full of different seasonal things like succulents, pine cones, etc. This was my first time to hang it outside with pumpkins. And I kind of love it!
Outdoor Autumn Decorations in Jewel Tones
I wasn’t originally going to add any purple or pink tones to our outdoor harvest decorations this year. But I went to Lowe’s and this beauty was just calling my name. I swear she was the prettiest mum in the whole store. And who can resist a beautiful splash of purplish-pink?
Since I added in the purplish-pink mum, I decided to keep my pink-toned pillows on the two porch benches.
The right side of the door features a vintage bamboo foot stool as a plant stand. Surrounding the stool are more pumpkins and a deep orange mum in a yellow pot.
The green “hello” sign is one of the first DIY projects the Hubs and I did when we moved in this house six years ago. Until recently, the sign hung inside the house in the entry. When we painted a few months ago, we moved the sign outside.
