Today, I’m sharing a quick tutorial for easy air fryer crab cakes. I had still been cranking up my oven – even in the heat of summer – before it dawned on me I could just use my air fryer for quick air fryer frozen crab cakes.
Back in the day, I used to make homemade crab cakes for the Hubs and me. Now with the girls here, I rarely bother making my own anymore because they don’t eat them. So I’ve decided the frozen crab cakes are quite good as they are are, and I don’t have to exhaust effort that won’t be appreciated.
What Temperature To Cook Frozen Crab Cakes in the Air Fryer
Sam’s Choice, the brand of frozen air fryer crab cakes I buy, directs to heat the crab cakes in the oven at 400 degrees. Going by that, I put the air fryer at 400 degrees. This ensures a soft center but some crispy spots on the edges.
How Long to Air Fry Frozen Crab Cakes
For me, 12 is the magic number. I find great results when I air fry frozen crab cakes at 12 minutes. Typically, I lay down some parchment paper or at least spritz a touch of cooking oil on the basket. Since crab cakes soften as they cook, there is the tendency for a bit of fall apart action when you go to lift them at the end. The parchment paper is helpful for that and to help prevent sticking.
Normally, I like to flip air fryer frozen food halfway. But I don’t usually flip the frozen air fryer crab cakes for the reasons I just mentioned. They tend to be soft at the halfway mark and it is difficult to flip them without tearing them a bit.
How to Serve Air Fried Frozen Crab Cakes
You can serve frozen crab cakes from the air fryer just on their own as an appetizer or as a simple entree. I suggest serving the cakes with some lemon wedges and some aioli sauce. You can find a variety of aioli sauce at stores. Or you can make your own homemade aioli sauce. It only takes a few minutes to whip up a homemade version.
You can also serve frozen crab cakes with pasta. One of my favorite dinners to prepare is a shrimp pasta topped with one crab cake. It makes for a delicious and impressive dinner.
