Sweet, sweet summertime!
It’s finally here – lazy mornings, summer trips, and summer play date fun!
We are lucky in our area to have several McDonald’s with indoor Play Place areas. With the Arkansas heat, an indoor play place is almost a must – especially if your play dates are in the afternoons or even in the evenings. The McDonald’s location we visit most often is actually undergoing a renovation to its existing outdoor playground. From what I understand, construction will soon start so that an indoor Play Place will be added. Woop woop!
My teacher friend and her family met us at another nearby location with a Play Place.
When we ordered our food, it took a while for Scooter Britches to decide between apple slices or a Cutie for a side item. It thrills me that my girls enjoy fruit like they do.
I was pretty pumped to catch up with my friend. A summer play date with my teacher friends and their kids is often more for me than for my kiddos. Teachers often remain a pretty tight unit even during summer breaks. After all, many of us go from being around 150 or more people a day to suddenly find ourselves at home alone or only with our children while our spouses and most of our friends are at work. This lifestyle change can be a welcome respite or it can be a lonely time, depending on your personality. (I am kind of in the middle.) Either way, when two teachers do get together in the summer, there is usually a lot of catching up to do!
Look at this boy and his silly faces!
It didn’t take Scooter Britches and Little One long to start the persuasions to visit the play area.
My friends’ oldest child is 10-year-old. It made my heart happy to see him having fun in the Play Place. Every time I see my girls having fun at a McDonald’s Play Place or any other type of playground, I always wonder how much time we have left. How much more time for my sweet girls to climb and play their hearts out without a care in the world? Seeing him laugh and play with the younger kids made me realize there is still plenty of time for my kids to be kids.
I’m not sure LO ever let go of her new Teenie Beanie Baby the entire time she played!
My girls found all the fun they could, too. Their sweaty hairlines were evidence!
What is your child’s favorite go-to meal at McDonald’s? My girls choose McNuggets, fries, apple slices, and water or white milk the majority of the time.
