Raspberry White Frozen Hot Chocolate – Cooking with Kids (Frozen Flavor Feature)
If you enjoy hot chocolate and ice cream floats, you are quite in luck with this gem!
I saw a yummy frozen hot chocolate all over my Facebook feed this past month. I wondered how it would taste in a white chocolate version. When it came to the ice cream flavor, I decided to play around with what I found in my freezer – raspberry sherbet.
And ta-da! This raspberry white frozen hot chocolate was actually a successful what if? in recipe experimentation.
Scooter Britches has only recently started to get excited about hot chocolate. Last year, she was kind of iffy about it. This year, she seems to appreciate the wonder of that hot velvety concoction. She was excited to help with our white chocolate raspberry frozen hot chocolate.
We started by making a homemade white hot chocolate on the stovetop.
First, we melted 3 cups white chocolate chips with 1 cup heavy whipping cream, 3 cups of milk, a sprinkle of salt, and a teaspoon of vanilla in a medium saucepan. We heated the mixture, whisking with a wire whisk the entire time, until just before boiling.
We let the pot cool a bit on the stove while preparing our mugs with two scoops of sherbet.
Very carefully, I poured the hot chocolate over the sherbet. Scooter Britches garnished our mugs with marshmallows.
- 3 cups white chocolate chips
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 3 cups milk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- sprinkle of salt
- raspberry sherbet (2 scoops per desired serving)
- marshmallows or sprinkles for garnish, optional
- In a medium saucepan, add first five ingredients.
- Over medium heat, simmer mixture until just before boiling point, whisking constantly.
- When mixture is smooth, remove from heat.
- Add two cups of sherbet to a mug.
- Carefully, pour the hot chocolate mixture over the sherbet.
- Garnish with marshmallows.
